Information Professional-Library Marketing & Social Media
This position is focused on library marketing and website management. This position uses all forms of visual communications and multimedia to promote, market, and further develop the Leon County Library's programs and services. Work involves designing marketing materials, writing copy for printed collateral, and designing graphics used in social media campaigns. Work also involves the use of various Adobe Creative Cloud applications to create engaging designs and layouts, In addition, this position is responsible for updating the Library's website, as well as providing technology support for programs that may occur on evenings and weekends. A portfolio submission is recommended, but not required.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The purpose of this position is to use all forms of visual communications and multimedia to promote, market, and further develop the Leon County Library's programs and services. Work involves designing marketing materials and writing copy for printed collateral to graphics used in social media campaigns, with opportunities to lead and support multimedia web and video projects; as part of the library's marketing team, and by working closely with the County's Community and Media Relations (CMR) Team. Work also involves the use of various Adobe Creative Cloud applications to create engaging designs and layouts and must also manage time-sensitive projects and deliverables associated with effectively communicating the value of the Leon County Library. In addition, this position is responsible for designing and updating the Library's website, as well as lending expertise to assist with creating internal staff development materials and providing technology support for events and programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Manage library social media efforts. Use social media to promote and market library services and activities, working closely with library staff and county Community and Media Relations to share library information via social media. Serve as a standing member of all social media committees. Serve on library programming and event committees to advise on promotional activities. Add programs to appropriate external promotional outlets, such as community calendars. Provide customer service through social media, answering service questions and handling suggestions, praise, and complaints from the public.
Develop and maintain Library website. Serve as a standing member of the Library website development team. Add and update library activities and information on the library website. Recommend changes and additions to library website. Maintain website links, ensuring they are accurate and active, and uses website analytics reports to make suggestions for improvement and streamlining of library website. Respond or appropriately forward patron emails sent to webmaster. Work with the Staff Development and Customer Experience Team to create and maintain the policies, procedures, and style guide governing the library’s website, social media, and promotional procedures, including other library and county staff when appropriate.
Use Adobe Creative Cloud and other graphic design products to create graphic designs for print and digital distribution to promote library services and activities.
Provide technology support for in-person, online, and hybrid meetings, events, and programs. Occasional weekends or evenings are required to support events. Create tutorial and promotional videos.
Provides direct services support to library users. Develop, print and post public-facing signage for Main Library and print signage for other departments and branches as requested. Maintain library printed promotional and educational materials. Serve as back-up to the public service desks, working when needed to assist other departments and to stay in touch with the needs of the staff and the public. Assist with planning and/or teaching patrons how to use library digital services. Occasional weekends or evenings may be required.
Coordinate with local print and design vendors to meet the needs of the library marketing. Place detailed orders for basic marketing collateral (flyers, posters, brochures). Review final proofs provided by print vendors. Assist with orders for specialty items, such as promotional items and signage. Track expenditures.
Create and maintain staff training documentation/ handouts. Assist in maintaining the technology related to staff training and internal communications, as well as promoting its use: Examples include Teams, SharePoint, and online newsletters on a variety of platforms.
Maintain awareness of technological developments and emerging library trends. Attend training sessions and webinars to keep informed of developments in web technology, graphic design, and library services.

DIFFICULTY
Independent decision making is essential. Employee in this position must be aware of the library users’ needs and abilities. Matching appropriate information to the needs of the user requires creativity based on knowledge of all library resources and knowledge of resources available outside of the library as well. Work involves program planning, marketing and presenting which requires imagination, flexibility, persistence, creativity and the ability to resolve problems in front of an audience.

EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS USED
Personal computers, word processing software, spreadsheet software, data base software, Adobe Creative Cloud, SIRSI Library Management System, and the Internet are among the equipment and tools used in this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is performed mainly indoors. Desk work, standing, walking, concentration, and computer work are some of the physical and mental demands of the position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of creating and running social media campaigns. Knowledge of principles and practices of web design. Knowledge of county, library, and department policies, procedures, and services. Knowledge of library classification systems, especially Dewey Decimal Classification system. Knowledge of operation of necessary workplace technology, including printers, copy machines, smart TVs, laptops and digital projectors. Knowledge of integrated library systems(SIRSI). Knowledge of library Online Public Access Catalogs. Skills in using web design, graphic design and video editing software (Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Camtasia Studio) Skills in HTML formatting and CMS Skills in basic hardware and software troubleshooting. Ability to organize and schedule multiple tasks.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Library Science or Information Studies.
Experience or degree in graphic design, website design, or marketing preferred.
A portfolio is recommended but not required.
Necessary Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid Class "E" State of Florida Driver's License with a favorable driving record.
Must be able to work days, evenings, and weekends.
All Leon County employees (regular full-time and part-time, OPS, and PRN) are required to work before, during and after a Declared Local State of Emergency (DLSOE). Participation is considered a condition of employment.
