Group Sales and Business Development Manager
Initial salary may be up to 15% above the minimum salary based on verified related education, experience, and training above the minimum requirements.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
This is a responsible, professional position that generates overnight visitation from sports, leisure ,and group market segments including affinity consumer groups and tour operators, and communicating directly with targeted audience segments. This position works directly with group business, sports/event management, and revenue and sponsorships.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Manages the leisure sales function by developing programs for various audience segments with local stakeholders and develop department sales plan and budget.
Conducts the leisure group sales program to the travel trade including weddings, reunions, military, education, diverse, and outdoor pursuits groups. Coordinate educational site visits for key customers and group organizers.
Conducts the leisure group sales program to key audience segments by developing customized sales material and assist local stakeholders in developing products, programs and packages for various audiences.
Assists the sports sales program by researching, prospecting, and soliciting new sports related business.
Manages and supports sports events including hotel leads, room blocks, and team registration.
Ensures sponsorship activations are executed per contracts.
Assists in identifying and maintaining revenue opportunities for sports events.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the tourism industry, primarily sports and group travel market as well as hotel sales. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively and multi-task. Ability to be creative, detail-oriented, and excellent time management skills. Ability to travel and work weekends, holidays and evenings, as necessary. Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. Ability to function with the highest ethical standards. Experience with Building Information Modeling preferred.
COMPLEXITY OF WORK
Employee must be able to work independently when attending sales conferences/shows or when communicating directly with targeted audience segments. Employee must be able to exercise independent judgment in situations which may not fall within established procedures.
INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CUSTOMER CONTACT
Internal contact with department staff. Considerable external contact with industry stakeholders and customers.
EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS USED
Personal computer; word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; specialized software such as iDSS; adding machine/basic calculator; operation of a car and/or light truck.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work will be mainly indoors at a desk or at a trade show. There will be some setup requirements at travel shows. There will also be some outside work during site inspections or educational tours of the destination.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Sports Administration, or a related field, and a minimum of three years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Necessary Special Requirements:
Must possess a valid State of Florida Class "E" Operator's License and have a favorable driving record.

FLSA STATUS: Position is Exempt. Employee exercises discretion and independent judgment with regard to matters of significance, such as, but not limited to carrying out major assignments that involve managing and handling the leisure travel sales program, and developing and implementing program activities.
