Job Title: Instructor or Assistant Professor for Physical Therapist Assistant Program.
Work Schedule: Full-Time, 10-Month
Beginning Salary: Instructor Rank - $48,000 to $63,142
Assistant Professor Rank $49,637 to $67,448
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary
This position will involve teaching a variety of physical therapy courses including Kinesiology and Physical Therapy Procedures. The position reports to the Dean of Healthcare Sciences. This is a special term position: January 2022-December 2022
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Recommends changes to the instructional programs and curricula as required.
- Keeps and submits appropriate academic records.
- Maintains instructional effectiveness by ongoing self-evaluation and incorporating current developments in instructional and learning strategies.
- Teaches courses in accordance with the master course outline and within the schedule of classes.
- Assists with accreditation tasks for the program.
- Assists with orienting and on-boarding students into the Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Participates on the Physical Therapist Assistant program advisory board.
- Assists librarians in keeping the College collections and services current.
- Assists the College in keeping technology, facilities, and equipment current.
- Plans with the assistance of the Dean and Academic Services to insure availability of supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment requisite to the successful teaching of assigned classes.
- Maintains regular office hours, as approved by the Dean, for consultation with students.
- Serves as faculty advisor to student organizations (voluntary).
- Serves as a faculty advisor to students in their program of study.
- Recruits students for programs of study.
- Assists with the application and admission process for the program.
- Participates in academic audits.
- Serves on College committees and advisory boards.
- Where appropriate, makes recommendations to the Dean on staffing courses.
- Works with Dean, Academic Services, and fellow faculty including adjuncts to maintain academic standards and integrity.
- Actively participates in faculty development activities.
- In addition to College-sponsored development activities, maintains professional development and stays current in his/her field of study.
- Works with counselors, advisors, and other College staff in responding to student needs.
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
- Discharges those additional duties normally and customarily associated with College faculty.
- Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Qualifications:
Required
Education
- Masters' degree in Physical Therapy or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution of higher education.
- Pennsylvania licensed (to practice in a US jurisdiction) Physical Therapist.
Certifications
- Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Clearance Fingerprinting)
Work Experience
- Minimum of three years, full time, post licensure of physical therapy clinical experience that includes experience in the PT/PTA relationship.
- Must have teaching experience.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Must possess a high level of the following work skills and behaviors: teamwork/cooperation, initiative, customer service, and commitment to continuous professional growth in skills and knowledge.
Preferred
- Teaching experience in a community college.
- Familiarity with Rehabilitation, Kinesiology and Therapeutic Exercise coursework a plus.
- Experience in the development of curriculum and course materials.
