Benefits Regular – Full -Time Position located in Klamath Falls. The primary purpose and responsibility of this position is to function as an advocate and identify, contact and encourage patients who may be eligible for alternate resources such as Medicaid, Medicare, Veterans Benefits, SSI, private insurance, to apply and maintain eligibility for available benefits. This includes determining if the patient qualifies for alternate resources, assisting the patient with the completion of applications and following up with the insurer to verify coverage.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Ensure maximum identification of persons who have or are eligible for alternate resources by effectively implementing supervisor-approved screening, interview and education methods.
2. Responsible for timely and accurate data entry into NextGen, Plexis-LCS and other systems.

3. Serve as a patient advocate for those who need assistance when applying or utilizing an alternate resource program.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of medical and administrative records and adhere to the standards for health record-keeping, HIPAA and Privacy Act requirements. Knowledge of the eligibility requirements and guidelines for Medicare, Medicaid, SSA, SSI and VA, in order to determine who is eligible for alternate resources to assist in applying for the alternate resources available. Ability to function effectively under pressure of time and/or demands of several tasks at once by effectively planning, organizing and prioritizing workload and follow them through to completion, with minimal supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION REQUIRED to possess a High School Diploma or Equivalent. (Must submit copy of diploma or transcripts with application.)
- REQUIRED to possess and maintain a valid Oregon Driver’s License, (out of state applicants must receive ODL within 90 days of hire), have good driving record and be insurable by the Klamath Tribal Health & Family Services’ vehicle insurance policy.
