Job Summary:
A candidate for this position must have strong design skills. Solid works experience preferred.
Successful candidate must be able to research, develop, and design a robust solution to properly hold a customer’s production part while being machined. Candidate must take into consideration all factors that effect a workpiece while under machining conditions.
Job Responsibilities:
• Manage all the technical information that is provided and to develop a fixture solution that is robust for the end user.
• Work closely with the fixture build department to assist them with clarification changes, etc.
• Perform start up meetings along with the Project Manager to be sure all pertinent information is provided prior to developing the fixture.
• Update the drawings for any changes that may have been necessary during the build stage.
Job Requirements:
• Strong 3-D CAD System experience
• Prior Hydraulic Fixture Design experience is preferred. Automation Design experience is acceptable.
• Candidate must be able to develop and create a hydraulic fixture that takes into account all pertinent aspects of the manufacturing process including but not limited to:
o Part geometry and features
o Type of loading; robot or manual
o The machines hydraulic system limitations
o The machines pneumatic system if part/clamp confirmation is required
o Internal size limitations of the machine tool
o Cutting tool pressures
o Operator ease of load
o Maintainability of the fixture
• Willing to work overtime as required
• Follow and support James Tool's AS9100 (Aerospace) & ISO9001 processes
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Pay close attention to detail
Manage time on projects and in an organized methodical manner
Candidate must be able to explain his/her design intention and allow input from peers, fixture builders, project managers, and the end user
