Job Description
Hospice of Piedmont is seeking a full-time Chief Marketing & Development Officer. Reporting to the CEO, you will work closely with other members of the senior leadership team. The role requires strategic planning and management expertise; experience in managing multimedia advertising, public relations, and direct mail campaigns; knowledge of effective development practices; plus, experience in and the ability to inspire the team to accomplish far-reaching goals. The job requires you to be located in the Charlottesville, VA area. (If you are relocating for this position, a portion of your relocation expenses will be reimbursed.)
To achieve our mission, you will manage a comprehensive communications campaign and development effort with the goals of:
- Transforming the impact of HOP by educating the community about hospice care
- Maximizing fundraising revenue
- Increasing the number of patients and the patient length of stay
- Significantly building brand awareness
Responsibilities
- Create, manage, and evaluate the success of an advertising and public relations program that will enhance the organization's image and bottom-line
- Lead the Development Team to implement successful strategies for fundraising priorities, major gifts, and annual giving
- Manage all aspects of the brand strategy including identity, positioning, character, and targeting
- Evaluate strategic opportunities, such as new service offerings and partnerships, as part of the senior leadership team
- Develop a dynamic online presence, including the organization's website, social media, and advertising, that attracts external audiences and provides compelling content that motivates interest and interaction
- Oversee development of effective communications and publications organization-wide for donors, volunteers, employees, and the community
Qualifications
- Experience, with a proven track record, in management leadership
- Experience in marketing, advertising, communications, strategy development, and philanthropy
- The ability to inspire a team to achieve community-wide communications and fundraising objectives
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including the ability to actively listen
- Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism or commensurate work experience with demonstrated success
- Knowledge of and experience in philanthropy and the ethics of fund development preferred
- Experience in non-profit sector preferred
