Marketing Manager
Marketing at Gensler is a communications-based discipline that requires a passion for storytelling and the strategic acumen to guide business development efforts. Gensler New York's new Marketing Manager will be a vital member of the office, working directly with leadership and partnering with studio directors to pursue new business, while leading and mentoring a robust team.

Your Role
As the New York Marketing Manager, you will lead a talented team of Marketing Coordinators and Specialists, working together to produce materials in support Gensler's business development efforts, including writing and designing proposals, presentations, and other collateral. You are a thoughtful mentor, able to train team members in best practices while also inspiring them to be proactive in their own professional development. In this role, you will also work closely with the New York PR Manager on local communications and PR efforts and will join a tight-knit regional group of over 30 marketers, PR professionals, writers, graphic designers, photographers, videographers, and communicators. Marketers at Gensler also enjoy a robust global network of over 200 marketers and communicators who collaborate daily on strategies and tactics for winning new work.
As key source of knowledge and leadership for business development and communications opportunities, you will lead the department logistics, including staffing, knowledge management, opportunity tracking and reporting, and CRM efforts. You will communicate the marketing department's efforts to office and regional leadership and ensures both project data and client relationship information is tracked and reported appropriately, while overseeing and controlling the quality of marketing collateral.
What You Will Do
Marketing Managers are responsible for project-level success of office marketing efforts, including:
- Clear and constant communication with business development leaders, weekly BD meeting/reporting (via Salesforce) with office leadership and senior staff
- Knows firm portfolio in detail, understands practice area capabilities, actively seeks out firm's best practices for use in local efforts
- Conducts internal and external research on new opportunities, prospective clients, and practice areas
- Leads strategy/kickoff meetings with BD champions
- Creates pitch strategy/budget with BD champions including research, network mapping, tasks/milestones, reviews, etc.
- Researches targets, internal relationships, company history, market position
- Delivers on a win strategy throughout the business development process, and manages marketing initiatives through close out
- Concept/write/design new material and collateral, as needed
- Acts as point-person for Firmwide communications-related projects
- Seeks out and implements process and content improvements
- Coaches team and peers on new ideas
- Maintains consistency of marketing deliverables, alignment with firm brand program, participates in design reviews with FW marketing team. Helps others learn Gensler brand standards.
- Maintains resources & information systems: ordering materials, updating project documentation, resumes, image libraries, etc.
- With the Regional Communications Director, oversees and directs project photography
Your Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional experience in a marketing role, preferably for an architecture, design, engineering, construction, or industry-related firm
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design, or adjacent field
- Strong graphic design sensibility and written/verbal communication skills
- Experience managing significant marketing projects independently, working closely with senior staff and leadership on marketing initiatives
- Experience managing a large team - hiring, training, mentorship, and leading talent
- Experience strategically partnering and supporting senior staff on business-critical projects
- Self-motivator with strong organizational and intra-personal skills; a great collaborator
- Fluent in InDesign and Microsoft Office. Familiarity with other Adobe Creative Suite software, and Salesforce is a plus
