The Greenville News / GreenvilleOnline.com is seeking a dynamic content coach to help a team of reporters develop into strong storytellers focused on making Greenville a better place.
We want a coach who is passionate about helping journalists develop reporting and writing skills. We want to turn our team of reporters into a group that is adept at watchdog and accountability work that is built on data when appropriate but driven by compelling storytelling that puts a face to the issues impacting our communities.
Our emphasis is on front-end coaching that helps reporters develop story ideas and plan for their success. We also need excellent back-end coaching that helps our team understand why stories succeeded or didn’t, and prepares them to act on that information the next time out.
This coach will be part of a three-coach team that leads a group of 15 reporters who cover Greenville and its surrounding suburbs.
Often listed among the best places to live and visit, Greenville is a fast-growing city between Atlanta and Charlotte. Over the next 20 years, this metro area of about 1 million people is expected to add 220,000 new residents. All that growth means there will be a lot of stories to tell. In addition to being two hours from two great cities, we’re 45 minutes from the Blue Ridge Mountains and three hours from the South Carolina coast. Greenville features a great night life, minor league sports and a vibrant performing arts scene. We’re known for our restaurants, with downtown Greenville serving as the center of a regional food scene driven by inventive local and regional chefs.
