Director of Human Resources
We are seeking a driven, hardworking and highly motivated individual to lead our recruiting, staffing, onboarding and employee training practices. As the Director of Human Resources for the American Place Casino, you will be the key driver for all HR functions, be involved in key staffing decisions, and play an integral part in our long-term strategy execution. The ideal candidate will have 6+ years' experience as an HR Director in a casino with an emphasis in diversity and inclusion, employee relations and engagement practices. A complete understanding of Human Resources practices and procedures, state and federal labor laws specific to Illinois are required. The successful candidate will possess strong business acumen, emotional intelligence, team mentoring, collaboration, critical analysis, decision-making and leadership skills.
Essential Job Functions:
Directs the HR functions and collaborates with HR peers to implement and execute HR programs.
Understands gaming and hospitality-specific business drivers and threats and translates current and future business needs into an overall integrated strategic plan, prioritizing efforts based on business impact and resources available.
Recommends policies, and procedures and process improvements to improve overall employee engagement and/or the efficiency of the department and its delivery of services, or to reduce risk.
Continually monitors HR compliance requirements in the business and works to mitigate any human capital risk.
Proactively manage, mentor and develop the HR team.
Fosters a property culture that promotes effective communication, service excellence, employee retention & engagement, performance feedback, teamwork, recognition, mutual respect, diversity and inclusion.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations via regular internal audits and data management.
Manages Events & Communications to ensure successful execution of Company-sponsored employee engagement events, activities and communications at the property level.
Oversee issues related to recruiting, training, salaries, benefits, and conflict resolution.
Meet all regulatory requirements related to hiring, firing, harassment/discrimination claims, and other record-keeping.

Takes ownership for operating responsibilities including Compensation and Benefits, Employment/Recruitment, diversity and inclusion training.
Oversee HR compliance with statutes and gaming commission requirements for state of Illinois.
Qualifications
6+ years of experience as a Human Resource Director
Understanding of compensation, benefits and 401k
Thorough knowledge of national and local labor laws
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, or another related field from an accredited four-year college or university preferred
Experience in startup of a casino preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Able to obtain/maintain necessary licenses and/or certifications as required by local gaming regulations.

A leader with excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with guests, staff, and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner
Skilled in conflict mediation

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
Computer literate with working knowledge of MS Word, Excel
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
