Job Summary

This position will be based in Washington, DC:

The Associate Director will report to the Associate Vice President for Government Affairs and will support the university's reputation campaign by coordinating with key units on incorporating national voters; Washington-based media and other critical stakeholders in the DC-based activities. The Associate Director will be responsible for collaborating with team members on visitor experience and storytelling, programming, and audience development for the FIU in DC briefing center and serve as an academic liaison with other academic units in the execution of academic seminars and courses in Washington, DC.

  • Acts as the university's experience ambassador for visitors to the FIU in DC briefing center by managing the overall quality of visitor experience, serving as a concierge to internal and external partners who will be hosting programming events at the facility, and ensuring brand consistency and maximum usage of the facility to increase new opportunities for the university.

  • Responsible in developing and maintaining systems to manage the calendar of events, coordinating customer visits, and booking and managing events and leading the tour program of the facility.

  • Manages the curation, development, and production of all FIU in DC programming, signature events and activities.

  • Works closely with the Office of University Ceremonies and Events to ensure event standards are met. Collaborate with Washington based staff for proper execution of events and activities.

  • Supports and collaborates with the university reputation efforts by helping to identify and curate high-profile panelists, guest lecturers, guest lists for specific programs; and managing the cultivation and invitation of priority invitees.

  • Positions FIU researchers and faculty on national panels, conferences, symposia, and media partnerships, to raise the university's profile.

  • Works with the FIU in DC team to manage the day-to-day operations of the facility.

  • Oversees the technical maintenance and upgrades of the facility to keep the experience

    relevant and up to standards.

  • Responsible for leading a standard process for success metrics and creating dashboards

    to share functional effectiveness un operations.

  • Collaborates with other internal academic units in the execution of academic seminars

    and courses in Washington, DC, including, but not limited to for-credit, semester-long courses; short-term week-long seminars; online and hybrid courses for undergraduate and graduate students; executive education and certificate courses for the local area alumni and Washington, DC based professionals.

  • Works closely with communications colleagues and research partners across the university, to identify and develop updates to reflect new ways to promote and display FIU research products, solutions, and services.

  • Performs other related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

     

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of appropriate experience, or master’s degree and four (4) years of experience.

Departmental Requirements

Understanding of and proven experience with event logistics. Experience in project management.
