FAU College of Medicine is seeking a Director of Training, COM Office for Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) - Boca Raton, FL.
The Director of JEDI Training will utilize existing and/or develop new educational content and curricula to provide impactful ongoing training and programming to all COM constituents.
As the JEDI Office is the driver of the successful implementation of the COM's "Race to Equity" action plan the Director of JEDI Training will assist other members of the JEDI team to support the COM "Race to Equity" action plan by recruiting, nurturing and retaining a diverse and inclusive community; by diversifying the future physician and scientist workforce of equity advancing leaders; by promoting the health and wellness of underserved patient populations; and by building a platform of health equity research that is relevant to South Florida. The Director of JEDI Training will strive to embrace and exhibit the Charles E. Schmidt COM mission of transforming the College into a "hub for equity, inclusion and diversity" and to support the COM's Circle Values of: Collaboration, Innovation, Respect, Compassion, Lifelong Learning, and Equity.
Summary of Responsibilities Include:
- Collaborate with FAU campus-wide diversity, equity, and inclusion leaders and community partners to oversee and provide professional development workshops, educational materials, and resources on topics of diversity, equity and inclusion to all COM constituents including medical students, graduate students, residents, fellows, staff, and university and community-based clinical faculty.
- Ensure compliance with required LCME Accreditation Standards and University Policies regarding Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Training.
- Partner with the JEDI Office Director to ensure trainees, staff, and faculty engaged in community-based initiatives and service-learning activities are prepared to engage with diverse communities.
- Develop standards for the implementation, tracking, and assessment of all COM trainees, faculty, and staff who engage in JEDI programming.
- Serve as the COM FAU STRIDE (Strategies and Tactics for Recruiting to Improve Diversity and Excellence) representative: responsibilities include serving on the FAU STRIDE committee, providing STRIDE training to members of all COM search committees as needed, and tracking and monitoring completion of STRIDE training among COM faculty and staff.
- Partner with COM Office of Admissions to provide annual LCME required training to all admissions committee members.
- Collaborate with the Chief JEDI Officer to guide the development, implementation, and analysis of COM climate assessments.
- Participate in other duties as assigned by the Chief JEDI Officer and the Dean.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and six (6) years of experience developing and facilitating effective education and/or training activities related to diversity, equity and inclusion; or bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and eight (8) years of experience developing and facilitating effective education and/or training activities related to diversity, equity and inclusion required.
Candidates with a deep commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion with a proven track record in the field are preferred.
Knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion best practices and national trends.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and ability to inspire and influence the development of leaders and advocates by fostering awareness and cultivating new perspectives.
Ability to defuse high-stress conflict with emotional intelligence, foster amicable conflict resolution with diplomacy, and lead difficult conversations and dialogues across difference.
Ability to foster and promote a community of belonging and campus climate that values differences and promotes equity.
Experience and ability to respectfully engage with diverse constituents in all professional settings.
Ability to build trust and credibility, be flexible and adaptable, and manage multiple demands.
Possess a high level of professionalism, awareness, integrity, independence, initiative, and dependability.
Ability to be a collaborative member of the JEDI team and committed to the College of Medicine and JEDI Mission.
