Journeyman Fabricator

Position Summary: A Millworker creates and assembles products made of wood and/or related materials. Performing hand or machine work needed to layout, cut, shape, and assemble products such as: doors, frames, trim, moldings, cabinets, fixtures, and equipment from rough sketches, drawings, or as directed. Sets up, operates, and tends to wood sawing machines.
Functions and Responsibilities:
- Fabricate architectural millwork and components as needed.
- Able to set-up and operated a variety of woodworking machinery including bandsaw, joiner, table saw, shaper & power feeders
- Able to read & understand shop generated drawings for construction.
- Glues and fits together assemblies or sub-assemblies using dowels, screws, clamps, or other devices to form complete units.
- Installs hardware such as hinges, catches, and drawer pull.
- Participates and actively works with others as a team, taking and accepting direction as given.
- Inspects equipment and tools for wear and tear and report condition found to the appropriate personnel
- Ensures accuracy and quality of craftsmanship at all times
- Maintains productivity, schedule, timeliness. Is reliable and consistently demonstrates initiative.
- Performs related duties as assigned
- Responsible for assisting and development of apprentice helpers.
Skills Required:
- Understanding and adherence to safety requirements and standards of the millwork trade.
- Skill in setting up and using woodworking tools and equipment.
- Skill in performing precision work with either hand or machine tools.
- Ability to build projects using various joinery techniques common to the trade.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, and diagrams.
- Ability to initiate and complete projects with limited supervision.
- Ability to work and interact well with co-workers and other EG staff and vendors.
- Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions.
- May include the ability to perform mathematical operations.
- Ability to exercise judgment and decisiveness.
- General knowledge of AWI standards and practices
Education and Experience Required:
Minimum 10 years’ experience

Pay: $24.00 - $36.00 per hour based on experience
This job is located in Amsterdam, NY 12010. You must be currently able to reliably commute to work everyday, or you must be willing to relocate at your own expense so you can reliably commute.
