Director of Human Resources
The Human Resources Director provides leadership in developing and executing oversight of various programs within the department and across the organization. This position works closely with company leaders to support and meet long-term business objectives and initiatives. The Human Resource Director will be responsible for proposing, developing, implementing, policies and procedures that encompass: employee relations, coaching of senior leaders, performance management, State and Federal compliance, compensation, benefits, employee recruitment practices. This professional will effectively collaborate in a cross-functional capacity to ensure that department meets strategic business goals and objectives.
The Director of Human Resources will be responsible for performing the following duties:
- Manages day-to-day human resources activities and supports Senior Management in achievement of objectives.
- Plan, develop, revise, implement, maintain, and monitor HR strategies, policies, procedures, and programs to ensure standardization and compliance to applicable federal, state, and corporate requirements.
- Establish, define, and revise human resources functions, including record keeping, hiring, promotions, terminations, compensation, benefits, employee relations to meet Company policies and applicable legal requirements.
- Develop/Recruit employees that are aligned and inspired towards the company's goals along with creating a safe and desirable workplace for everyone.
- Establish, direct, administer and effectively communicate human resource policies, rules, and practices in compliance with employment labor laws and company directives.
- Oversee and manage HR vendor relationships.
- Responsible for the direction, coordination, and effective performance of human resource functions, including hiring, compensation, benefits, employee relations, payroll, and for ensuring company- wide compliance with government laws and regulations.
- Provide recommendations to executives in establishing overall human resource objectives, policies, and plans.
- Direct the design and administration of Company's pre-employment screening and new hire processing nationwide.
- Direct the design and administration of benefit programs to include medical, dental, LTD. STD, Life Insurance, and 401K plans - as applicable.
- Negotiate with insurance brokers and other HR vendors.
- Direct and establish processes and procedures to comply with Affordable Care Act.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to benefit programs and processes.
- Oversee the design, development and preparation of benefit related reports. Assist with budget preparation including compiling participation, utilizations and claims data.
- Monitor the effectiveness of existing benefits policy, processes and guidelines recommending improvements to plans that are cost effective, more efficient and competitive.
- Develop, identify and ensure compliance with all legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting the Human resource function, including but not limited to: OSHA, EEO, TEFRA ERISA and Wage and Hourly employee compensation
- Establish processes regarding leave of absence, FMLA, and Disability claims with employees and service providers.
- Review progressive discipline actions, make recommendations, and assist management with implementing appropriate actions.
- Conduct and resolve investigations regarding employee complaints and concerns. Resolves employee relations issues according to Company policies and applicable legal requirements.
- Ensure human resource policies are updated and provide advice, interpretation, and guidance regarding human resource policies as they relate to individuals and to Company objectives.
- Develop, implement and manage HR vendor relations including creating company policies and procedures for the implementation, training, and assessing overall effectiveness, as well as maintaining and tracking timely payment to all department vendor contracts including insurance plans and staffing services
- Complete daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly reports.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or related field, Master's degree is a plus
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
- 10-15+ years of experience leading and managing the HR department and practices in a senior role within an organization.
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource aspects including: compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, Federal and State and other respective intricate tasks
- Experience developing company human resources strategies and implementing comprehensive human resource policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of principles and procedures regarding human resource laws and regulations, hiring, compensation and benefits, and employee relations practices.
- Ability to manage and work with diverse teams to ensure work processes meet or exceed all requirements and business goals.
- Excellent consulting and coaching skills, management skills and business acumen.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications with the ability to learn proprietary HRIS database systems.
- Knowledge and experience with ADP is a plus.
