Math Teachers - Secondary Level (8-12)
The Collaborative for Educational Services (CES) is seeking passionate classroom Math Teachers and Math Teaching Coordinators to provide direct educational instruction to youth assigned to the Department of Youth Services (DYS) and Department of Mental Health programs in MA. Our ideal candidates will value professionalism, positive youth development, and culturally responsive teaching, and be committed to working with youth who have been placed at risk. Classes are small and teachers should have a highly personalized approach with a focus on academic and behavioral success. We are a supportive team who offers teachers growth through coaching and continued professional development. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, and a current Massachusetts teaching license in Mathematics at the secondary level (8-12); (5-8) will be considered. Other content areas at the secondary level (8-12) may also be considered. Demonstrated successful teaching with high-risk youth highly desirable.
Priority Locations: Springfield, Tewksbury, Brockton, Plymouth, and at the Department of Mental Health education program in Worcester, MA. Experience working in institutional settings a plus. Compensation: SEIU Teacher Scale - placement based on education and licensure. $42,000-$73,000
Math Teacher Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University
- Current Massachusetts secondary level teacher licensure (8-12; 5-12) in Math. Additional grade levels (5-8) in the corresponding subject area is allowable for a duration of up to two years while the employee secures upper grade level certification.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle or method for attending trainings or other meetings as required at locations throughout the state
- Sheltered English Immersion Endorsement for core content teachers pursuant to ESE regulations
Math Teaching Coordinator Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to successfully lead, coordinate and supervise staff
Preferred Requirements for both opportunities:
Master's Degree from an accredited College or University
Successful teaching experience with adolescents placed at-risk.
Work Setting: In person classroom instruction. Workplace safety standards apply for COVID prevention and mitigation. CES employees working on site in DYS, DMH, DPH or CHC facilities are required to demonstrate that they have received COVID-19 vaccination.
