Job Description: The role of an effective treasurer encompasses a multitude of responsibilities, each essential to the fiscal health of the district and is an essential component in striving for excellence in education. The work involves preforming accounting responsibilities relating to budget, financial and reconciling functions; the candidate must possess knowledge of business, computer databases, accounting programs and the skills to exercise independent judgement while reforming their duties under the supervision of the district’s Business Administrator.
Performance Responsibilities:
•Bookkeeping for all funds utilizing NYS municipal accounting system
•Maintain general journal, general ledger, receipts and disbursement control
•Complete a Treasurer’s Financial monthly report
•Oversee accounting staff members
•Assist Internal, External and Claims Auditors
•Integrate accounting responsibilities with all business functions and funds
•Prepare all annual NY Said reports and submissions
•All other duties as assigned
District Treasurer
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Accounting or Business Management preferred
•Minimum of Two years’ experience in maintaining financial records; preferably in a school or municipal environment.
Employment Details:
•Compensation; commensurate with experience and qualifications
•The position is appointed annually by the Board of Education and is civil service exempt
•Performance will be evaluated annually by the Business Administrator.
•The position is full time, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year.
