Job Summary:
Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled technical and maintenance work in the operation, maintenance, repair, and laboratory analysis of City water treatment facilities, pump stations, tanks, and systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Monitors, operates, services, and maintains plant process equipment, systems, and processes to ensure proper operations. Duties include: inspecting pump valves, motors, filters, meters, and computerized controls; taking readings and filling out logs; generators; reviewing chemical levels; adding chemicals; checking chemical feed pump settings and alarm point settings; repairing and/or replacing equipment; handling hazardous and toxic chemicals and materials; monitoring water volumes and quantities; monitoring operations to ensure compliance with applicable standards; and/or, performing other related duties, as directed.
- Monitors and maintains lab and lab equipment to ensure effective and efficient operations.
- Responds to emergencies by returning calls within 10 minutes and being onsite within 30 minutes when on duty and when called in during non-scheduled hours for critical situations.
- Assists in performing routine cleaning, inspection, repairing, and maintenance of plant equipment and controls, facilities, and grounds, which includes: maintaining pumps and electric motors; ensuring belts, bearings, drives, and oil levels are properly adjusted; opening tank valves; assisting with wiring electrical motors; painting pumps and various structures; sandblasting structures; clearing stoppages from pipes and valves; applying tar coatings to metal structures; welding bracings, frames, and/or supports; washing down chlorine contact chambers; and/or, performing other related duties, as directed.
