WATER MANAGER
The City of Macomb, Illinois, home of Western Illinois University, is seeking an experienced Water Manager to lead the Water Treatment Plant and Distribution System. The Water Manager works under the general direction of the Public Works Director. The successful candidate will provide required emergency, cyclic or seasonal municipal services related to the operation, maintenance and regulatory compliance of the public potable water production and distribution system; manage, supervise and coordinate the daily activities by determining manpower, equipment, and material needs for specific jobs, providing instruction, guidance and inspecting final product; maintain all required regulatory records and submit all required reports for water treatment and distribution; coordinate the repair and maintenance of underground water distribution mains with the Operations Manager and assures water quality regulations are met; manages and supervises the operation, improvement, maintenance and repair of the water production system; and other assigned duties.
Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Functions include: graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline; five years of experience in water treatment and distribution; possession of a valid Illinois Class A Water Operator’s Certificate or ability to acquire one within three (3) months of starting employment; five years of experience in relevant supervision and management of employees; working knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, Internet Explorer and Excel. Relevant training and experience may be substituted in lieu of education and experience requirements.
McDonough County residency will be required, along with a pre-employment physical, lower back x-ray, drug screen and background investigation. The salary range for this position is $59,245.47-$78,993.96 DOQ. Full benefit package.
