Full-time position available with the Aviation Department, Fleet Maintenance Division, 125 Paris St., KCI Airport.

Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. -3:30 p.m.

Coordinates all aspects of the CDL program including road test preparation classes and test scheduling.
Prepares and assembles clear concise lesson plans, course curricula, visual and mechanical aides, written materials and hands-on instructions. Trains participants to be able to take and pass all written CDL tests, as well as do pre-trip inspections. Trains on Smith System Driving techniques, passenger endorsement and airbrake qualifications. Updates training manuals, handbooks, videos and other training aids required for instruction. Reviews driving skill-set, such as performing turns, backing, shifting, etc. Conducts driver performance checks in the field and provides training and initiates counseling or disciplinary action if
needed. Responsible for managing the development, instruction, administration of and record keeping for the CDL training program. The person in this position will have supervisory responsibilities over subordinate employees.

REQUIRES high school graduation and 5 years of experience operating heavy equipment or conducting
heavy vehicle training courses and possession of a valid Class A or B CDL for 5 years; OR an accredited Associate’s degree in a related field (i.e. Occupational Education/Automotive Technology/Mechanical/Teaching) and 3 years of progressively responsible experience operating heavy equipment or conducting heavy vehicle training courses and possession of a valid Class A or B CDL for 5 years. May be required to possess Smith System Certification. Must possess a MO Class A or B CDL with tanker or passenger endorsements and no airbrake restrictions. Must successfully complete a 10-year FAA background check. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

Salary Range: $18.24-29.44/hour.
