The Construction Manager acts as a liaison between the City of Kalispell and private contractors, developers, and engineers to ensure the requirements of the Standards for Design and Construction (City Standards) are met for City’s infrastructure constructed by private developers. The Construction Manager is responsible to schedule and coordinate field work of city staff (valve operations, testing, flushing, inspections, etc.) as required for successful completion of private development.
Additionally, the Construction Manager reviews approved plans, reviews specifications, and design reports to verify construction is completed as designed and approved. The Construction Manager will perform field observations of work in progress, note deficiencies, and resolve construction problems by working with the design engineer and contractor to identify solutions which meet the minimum standards of the City. The Construction Manager also manages and administers permits, as assigned, for the Public Works Department.
Work assignments are made orally and in writing. The Construction Manager is expected to communicate clearly and professionally and have the ability to work well with others. Work is performed with considerable independence in judgment and decision making within established policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and guidelines. Work is reviewed through observation, meetings, periodic written and oral reports and by results obtained.
