Development Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
Identifies funding sources and opportunities with new, major donors, including corporate, foundations, and individuals; conducts donor research; develops and updates donor and prospect profiles; develops strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects. Manages relationships with existing donors, under $5,000 lifetime giving. Develops and carries out one or more special fundraising events, and manages volunteers. Reports to Director of Development. Most of time is focused on short- to mid-range (less than one year) projects and programs.
Works to enhance engagement within the community, both internally and externally, and to learn about Chase Brexton Health Care's mission from a comparative point of view. Attends local community gatherings and business events, as needed.
Assists in managing the day-to-day fundraising activities of the organization, focusing on communications, logistics and data management. Crafts messaging and develops best communication methods for sharing information coming from the Development Department, ie blogs, newsletters, e-mails, videos, etc. Sources story ideas from organizational units that serve to inform constituents about organization's mission, activities, and successes. Gathers, fact-checks, sources images, and posts pieces, and may create videos for audiences. Serve on organization's internal work groups, as appropriate.
Applies in-depth professional-level knowledge to independently solve a full range of complex problems. Serves as trusted 'go-to' person by management.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Responsibilities
Raise money through corporate, foundation, and individual solicitations
Manage event logistics and communications for the Development team
Planning and Organizing
Responsible for soliciting gifts primarily in the 5-digit range
Tasked to cultivate donors through various resources such as 3rd party events and initiatives, volunteers, quarterly happy hours, Councils, holiday drives, Employee Giving Campaign, strategic reciprocal budget distribution, and smaller/new sponsorships from vendors, charitable trusts, corporates. These lists are not an exhaustive, and added value is placed on initiatives, campaigns, relationships that help reach the FY's financial goal.
Assist with the Gala by including the marketing and communications needs into the Communications Plan, attending Gala Committee meetings, focusing on getting solicited and new corporate sponsorships, managing logistics, rentals, and house parties, and maintaining the gala budget and reconciling it routinely.
Manage the AIDS Walk event, create and implement a cultivation plan for participants, specifically CBHC employees, sponsors, Community Partners, and individual donors
Through new initiatives and Council work, establish sustainable, recurring gifts.

Communication
Responsible for community and corporate engagement in assigned target regions of Mt. Vernon, Glen Burnie, Columbia, and Randallstown sites.
Create and implement the Development Communications Plan, including cyclical and special events mailings & posts, social media updates, and enews.
Work with the Marketing team and outside vendor to implement communications plan.
Checking, Examining, and Recording
Attends bi-weekly meetings with Supervisor to report progress, track goals, and troubleshoot as necessary.
Continues to manage established Moves Management list of donor profiles
Works closely with the Database Administrator to create effective mailing lists, and keep the database updated.
Teamwork
Coordinates efforts internally; uses employee engagement opportunities to help advance responsibilities.
Manages volunteers and interns for the Development Department.
Works closely with Database Administrator and Marketing Team.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Solution-oriented, motivated professional who unearths opportunities and drives tasks to completion.
Ability to utilize account management software Raiser's Edge to track and report activity.
Ability to drive tasks to completion, to rely on problem solving and troubleshooting skills, to manage workflow, and to anticipate time to accomplish ad hoc tasks.
Web-based skills in Raiser's Edge, Blackbaud, Mail Chimp, Survey Monkey, Teams
Excellent written and oral communication skills are needed
An overall positive attitude is expected, with a decisive and collaborative approach to decision-making.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree
8+ years of experience, including 2 years supervisory experience
