The Senior Director of Development, Texas and Greater Southwest will develop annual communication, cultivation, and solicitation plans for major donors and prospects and will prospect heavily to grow our network across Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona, and generate $2M or more in revenue annually for CARE USA.
Responsibilities:
- Build financial support for CARE by managing and growing a personal portfolio of approximately 125 individual donors, family offices and foundations, and professional philanthropy advisors, with a significant focus on generating new prospects and leads.
- Ensure that all major donors receive appropriate, consistent engagement/ acknowledgment and an accounting of the impact that their gift has on community needs annually.
- Stay informed and knowledgeable about planned giving options for donors to CARE. With the Senior Planned Giving Officer, work to grow and steward donors, who have made or plan to make bequest, legacy, or estate gifts to CARE across Texas, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico.
- Ensure donor and prospect data is properly recorded in the database and that all donor information is maintained with respect to confidentiality. Provide timely and accurate reports to senior leadership on all fundraising activities.
- Accountable for setting and executing a city-specific market strategy for Houston, Dallas and Austin in partnership with the Executive Director. Key goals include raising the profile of CARE, growing the base of supporters and donors, proactively cultivating new prospective donors from outside CARE's known donor pool, etc.
- Develop and implement strategies for increasing CARE's visibility among the philanthropic communities of Dallas, Austin and Houston.
- Lead the planning and execution of a minimum of 3 small to medium donor cultivation events per year, including cultivating hosts, managing external speaker and topic, invitation creation and dissemination, onsite event management, and follow-up.
- Oversee local Committee for CARE, including organizing committee meetings, program briefings, and cultivation events.
- Partner with CARE media and marketing team to lever press and promotion to raise CARE's profile across Texas, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico.
- Represent the Major Gifts team on strategic internal taskforces or working groups as required. Work collaboratively as part of a cohesive national fundraising team and build strong working relationships with colleagues across CARE.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree Strong track record of settling and exceeding sales or fundraising targets.
- 10 years sales or fundraising management experience in either/or both the non-profit and for-profit context or equivalent.
- Entrepreneurial mindset in building donor/client portfolios.
- Experience working with high net-worth individuals, family foundations and other entities based in the region consistently supporting organizations with six-to-seven-figure gifts.
- Proven experience in results-oriented relationship management, networking, marketing and intelligence gathering.
