Assistant Professor of Biochemistry
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, California State University Fullerton (http://chemistry.fullerton.edu) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in biochemistry, preferably at the Assistant Professor level, to begin in August 2022.
The successful candidates will be expected to: 1) maintain an active, externally-funded research program involving undergraduate and master's students, 2) be committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring students of diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds, and 3) devote a portion of his/her time to engaging in departmental, college and university service. Of particular interest to us are candidates whose research complements the department's existing biochemistry and chemistry research programs and/or will further expand research opportunities at the interface of chemistry and biology. Interdisciplinary collaborations within the department and college are strongly encouraged.

To be considered qualified for this position, the applicants must have:
A Ph.D. in either biochemistry, chemical biology, biological chemistry or a closely related field, andrelevant postdoctoral or equivalent experience at the time of appointment
A strong commitment to and demonstrated potential for effective teaching. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate level biochemistry lecture and laboratory courses.
The ability to teach both lecture and laboratory courses using student-centered, active learning and inquiry-based approaches at the undergraduate and master's levels
A record of research productivity and/or evidence of the potential to supervise undergraduate and master's level students in research in biochemistry or closely related fields
A demonstrated potential for developing and sustaining an independent externally funded research program involving undergraduate and master's level students leading to peer-reviewed publications
The ability to communicate effectively with an economically, ethnically and culturally diverse campus population
