Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering
Duties:
The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty members are: teaching, research, scholarship and/or creative activity, and service to the University, profession and to the community. These responsibilities generally include: advising students, participation in campus and system-wide committees, maintaining office hours, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues, and participation in traditional academic functions.

Minimum Qualifications:
1) An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or other closely-related engineering discipline from an accredited institution (or equivalent) is required; however, applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered. For appointment, the doctorate must be completed by the date of appointment (8/18/2022).
2) Expertise in at least one of the following areas: Aerospace Systems, Biomechanics, Controls, Dynamics or Kinematics, Fluid and Thermal Sciences, Materials Science, and Solid Mechanics.
3) Evidence of successful teaching or mentoring experience at the undergraduate level.
4) Evidence of relevant scholarly publications.
Preferred Qualifications:
1) Evidence of successful teaching or mentoring experience at the graduate level.
2) Evidence of successful experience generating financial resources through grants/contracts.
3) Industry and/or post-doctoral experience.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering (http://www.calstatela.edu/ecst/me) is in the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology and offers programs of study leading to a BSME and an MSME. The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is accredited by the Enginnering Accreditation Commission of ABET (http://www.abet.org).
