Associate Director for Marketing and Communications
Job Description:
The Division of Pre-College and Summer Undergraduate Programs is responsible for developing and offering non-credit and credit courses and programs for 6000 high school students, as well as Brown University undergraduate and Visiting Students from other institutions. Students participate in programs on Brown University's Providence campus, as well as online and in other locations. Within the Division there are teams of staff who are responsible for marketing, admissions, enrollment, academic content and instructional delivery, student life, finance, human resources, payroll, and the various policies and protocols associated with this work. The staff works closely with colleagues from across the University to ensure success, including the Office of University Communications, the Office of Information Technology, and the Registrar's Office.
The Associate Director for Marketing and Communications reports to the Director of Enrollment Management and serves as one of the leads for the Enrollment Management team that also includes the functional areas of admissions, enrollment, and outreach and engagement with students, families, and partnerships with organizations across the country. This position, in close partnership with the Director of Enrollment Management, develops and executes a comprehensive marketing and media strategy that supports and promotes Brown Pre-College and Summer Undergraduate Programs offerings, assists students and families throughout the admissions enrollment funnel, while also managing brand market presence and overall reputation. The position manages the creation, implementation, and tracking of multi-channel direct marketing campaigns, targeting a variety of audiences ranging from middle and high school students, undergraduate students, Pre-College alumni, parents, and community organizations. These campaigns' and strategies' goals include meeting annual enrollment and yield targets, increasing alumni participation rates, and maintaining the division's competitive position in the expanding market.
This position utilizes a customer relationship management (CRM) system (Salesforce and Target-X) to develop marketing content and communications that increase brand awareness, generates leads, and shepherds prospective students and families throughout the student life-cycle including prospective, applicant, matriculant, registrant, attendee, and alum. This position will supervise the Manager for Marketing and Communications, who is responsible for the web- and print-based design and implementation of strategy. Real-time course correction will occur in each cycle, so this position will need to be highly responsive, navigating both long-term strategic thinking and short-term adjustments throughout the year in order to successfully contribute to the sustainability of these programs.
Primary responsibilities include:

Develop and implement strategy for all programming Content generation and copywriting

Write and copyedit all copy related to marketing and communications.

Determine venues for advertising, search words, and digital and social media campaigns aligned to strategy and budget.

Align communications, tracking, and assessment efforts for marketing with those systems already in place within the Division

Supervise and support marketing staff
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
-
Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
-
Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced, and deadline-driven marketing or communications environment with limited supervision under tight timeframes

Familiarity with email marketing best practices including crafting effective email messaging

Experience utilizing digital marketing strategies, tactics, and techniques in a professional setting

Experience conducting web-based research

Experience using Salesforce or another CRM (customer relationship manager) platform

Experience with Drupal, customer portals, or another CMS (content management system)

Proven experience developing digital campaigns

Highly proficient in associated standard computer applications and operating systems, including Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and other digital marketing analytics and online project management systems

Experience with CRM tools, project management, and workflow software, and ability to learn new systems.
