Human Resources Data Analyst
HUMAN RESOURCES DATA ANALYST
Black Hawk College seeks a full-time Data Analyst for the Human Resources department. Starting salary of $45,000/year with an outstanding benefits package including generous paid time off, retirement, health and life benefits, and more.
The HR Data Analyst, utilizing the College's ERP system as well as other databases and computer systems utilized by the HR, Finance, and Payroll divisions, gathers, analyzes, manages, and improves data and information to produce Human Resources and personnel-related reports.
This position coordinates programming needs with ITS; accepts responsibilities as a member of the HR team; serves in an advisory and leadership role for all initiatives pertaining to HR and Payroll-related system modules. Position also serves as a HR Generalist for the department providing a variety of HR functions including training, internal and external customer service, and various compliance and compliance-related reporting.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Serves as system administrator for Human Resources.
- Analyzes and maintains a working knowledge of College ERP system, including integration with other college systems; performs upgrades, recommends improvements, documents daily, weekly, and other tasks and troubleshooting documentation.
- Maintains, documents, and monitors security, working with IT to resolve issues.
- Monitors HR computer systems' day-to-day performance and has daily oversight. Identifies system errors and troubleshooting resolutions with the vendor and the ITS department.
- Stays up to date on software new releases and proactively plans and performs installations and upgrades in coordination with ITS staff.
- Serves as the Human Resources liaison to departments for data-related processes with other departments and works collaboratively with the Business Support Team (Banner Support Team).
- Serves on teams working together to pull data for state and other compliance reporting and in some cases coordinates the gathering of data.
- Responsible for entry and maintenance of personnel and payroll related information into the College's ERP system and other departmental databases.
- Responsible for the preparation and verification of data for teaching contracts including activation and termination of part-time faculty.
- Gathers, analyzes, manages, and improves data and information for established Human Resources measures as well as benchmarking and utilizing data to report proactively whether processes should be created or changed in order to meet Department and Organizational goals. Responsible for analyzing data and informing the Director of HR of variations in the data so that the Department can take action when needed.
- Performs reception / customer service duties for the Human Resources Department including but not limited to: answers departmental phone, responds to general HR e-mail account, greets visitors, arranges appointments/room reservations, and directs callers to appropriate staff member, performs employment verifications, orders office supplies, and disseminates information as needed.
DESCRIPTION OF OTHER DUTIES:
- Researches and keeps abreast of new Human Resources technology which would improve or automate Human Resources processes.
- Responsible for working with ITS on maintenance and administration of system security.
- Collaborates with Payroll and Finance in business process analysis and solution development, as directed.
- Performs other job-relate duties as assigned.

PRINCIPAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
- Works directly with the Director of Human Resources and cooperatively with all Human Resources Department staff.
- Works cooperatively with ITS staff, specifically the Senior Analyst (Tech Lead/Administrator.)
- Works collaboratively with payroll and finance to ensure work flow between HRIS and payroll/finance systems.
- Works cooperatively with all administrators, supervisors, staff, unions, and department chairs.
- Acts as the liaison with ITS and software vendors.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Experience working with databases and report writers required or ability to obtain coursework and/or training to learn and apply knowledge to essential duties within 24 months.
- Experience with SQL, Oracle, and/or Argos required or ability to obtain coursework and/or training to learn these applications within 24 months.
- ERP, HRIS, and/or Ellucian Banner experience preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs required.
- Demonstrated analytical ability required.
- Knowledge of Human Resources practices preferred, especially in a unionized environment.
