Position Title: Performance Engineer I or II Position
Purpose: Performance Engineer I - This position is an entry level position that plans, schedules, conducts and/or coordinates broader phases of engineering work on assigned parts of major projects, or total activities associated with smaller modification projects as assigned. These assignments are designed to develop professional work knowledge and ability. The incumbent assists with ensuring efficient, reliable, and economical performance of individual systems and/or equipment.
Performance Engineer II - This position develops new programs and procedures and provides technical support to Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) facilities. The incumbent ensures efficient, reliable, and economical performance of individual systems and/or equipment and specializes in systems including thermodynamic modeling, turbines, heat exchangers, and on-line performance systems. This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position, which may allow physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems.
Qualifications: Performance Engineer I - To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have a knowledge of engineering principles and practices acquired through the completion of a four-year degree from an Engineering Accreditation Commission/Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) accredited mechanical or chemical engineering program. The incumbent must be able to demonstrate effective verbal and technical writing skills. Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel is also required. This position also must have a valid driver’s license.
Performance Engineer II - To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have a knowledge of engineering principles and practices acquired through the completion of a four-year degree from an Engineering Accreditation Commission/Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) accredited mechanical or chemical engineering program and three years of related mechanical or chemical engineering experience. The incumbent must be able to demonstrate effective verbal and technical writing skills. Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel is also required. An Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) certificate is required. A valid driver’s license is required.
