Director, Regulatory Science
SUMMARY/PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE OF POSITION
This position is responsible for development and management of research strategies related to the safety of cleaning product ingredients and engagement of relevant stakeholders. Specifically, ACI is searching for a candidate with expertise in toxicology, chemistry and regulatory affairs.
This position serves as a point of contact for ACI's chemical management and regulatory programs, manages internal programs and contract execution, and expands scientific understanding of chemistry tools and technologies. The Director, Regulatory Science manages/directs external outreach for regulatory issues, and has oversight of relevant budgets. This position facilitates development of proactive industry programs; manages assigned committees and programs; as well as works collaboratively with all ACI functions to ensure alignment with ACI's strategic goals.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Graduate-level degree in toxicology or pharmacology with an emphasis on regulatory science or a related field is required. Training in bioinformatics is a plus. The successful candidate will have 5-10 years of experience.
The Director, Regulatory Science must have a strong familiarity with chemical regulations and knowledge of related policy issues. The individual must possess strong written and verbal communications skills; and should possess strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for leading and executing various facets of chemical management and regulations within ACI, including:
- Leading work groups focused on specific aspects of ingredient stewardship.
- Leading ACI's chemical management and regulatory portfolio at the federal and state level.
- Communicating across all levels of the organization on ACI's chemical management programs and progress.
- Providing toxicology and regulatory support across ACI programs, as needed.
- Representing ACI at industry, academic, government, and NGO-sponsored meetings and conferences.
