HR Business Partner Specialist

Times Union is looking for an HR Business Partner to provide guidance and support in all areas of human resources. We’re looking for someone with a strong background in Talent Management and Talent Acquisition. The successful candidate must have a proven track record of enhancing organizational performance; developing a competent and committed workforce and building organizational capabilities that directly impact business results.
What will you do?
- Coach, consult, and act as advocate to managers and employees;
- Identify best practices and process improvement in the delivery of HR services to the company and make appropriate recommendations within the HR Department;
- Provide expertise on all talent management processes and programs, including performance management and training and development;
- Develop effective sourcing and recruitment processes that attract top talent, including diversity initiatives and partnerships with community based organizations;
- Manage on-boarding programs
- Work with officers of our various labor unions.
- Help align HR activities to strategic long-term goals
What will it take to be successful?
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Master’s degree and/or PHR/SPHR/SHRM Certification a plus.
- In-depth knowledge and work experience as an HR Generalist with 5+ years of experience in talent management, change management, labor relations, employee relations, performance management, development, recruitment & retention, policies and procedures and legal compliance.
- A demonstrated track record of building collaborative relationships and lasting business partnerships across all levels of the organization.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; an ability to objectively analyze current practices, identify process improvement opportunities and successfully influence and implement appropriate changes.
- Knowledge of Federal and New York state labor laws and the ability to apply those legal requirements to complex situations in the workplace.
- The ability to serve multiple customers and manage a wide variety of tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- The ideal candidate will have drive, resilience, genuineness, openness & self-awareness.
