POSITION: Development Manager
LOCATION ONE: Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital-Barrington, Illinois
LOCATION TWO: Advocate Christ Medical Center-Oak Lawn, Illinois
LOCATION THREE: Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital-Chicago, Illinois (Wicker Park)
The Development Manager is responsible for the management of a portfolio of major donor accounts for a specific hospital site (Advocate Good Shepard in Barrington, Advocate Christ in Oak Lawn, or IL Masonic in Chicago). The portfolio will consist of individuals, corporations, foundations and organizations. Facilitates prospect and donor accounts through the traditional fundraising phases of identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship
Major Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining a portfolio of individual prospects/donors which includes obtaining new donors, managing existing donor relationships, and ensuring maximum donor retention and growth in giving. Maintains an active pool of viable prospects and focuses on securing gifts of $10,000 or greater.
- Identifies and requests research on individuals, foundations, corporations and organizations through the Foundation's files, giving records, resource library, and through outside sources.
- Establishes background of a prospect and donor, the relationships, the interests, the cultivation process, and the intended eventual solicitation of prospects for philanthropic gifts.
- Collaborates with Special Events team on all aspects of planning, implementing and evaluating events; focus on securing sponsorships and engaging potential major gift donors/community members.
- Prepares for cultivation events for prospects and donors including breakfast meetings, luncheons, dinners and other special events, possibly for groups of prospects or constituencies.
- Updates and prepares solicitation template materials as needed for presentation to prospects and donors.
- Represents the Foundation at community and development events and round on donors/grateful patients when in-patient.
Education Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or related field.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 7 years of experience in non-profit development and fundraising; knowledge of special event fund raising and major gift operations.
- Knowledge of non-profit fundraising best practices and various forms of development solicitation practices, including events and major gift solicitation.
- Proven success with donor/event solicitation and stewardship.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and effectively manage and set priorities.
- Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite or similar products and experience using fundraising software (raisers edge).
