Reporter, New York Cannabis Insider
Are you a passionate storyteller or a voracious digger of truth? Are you obsessed with filing FOILs, staying up late to track congressional bills or learning about the trials and tribulations of small business owners? If so, we may have the job for you.
New York Cannabis Insider is a new subscriber-only publication for the tens of thousands of people set to enter the state's cannabis marketplace. We're looking for a Reporter to cover this emerging multibillion-dollar industry and to help us build something brand new from the ground up.
In the role, expect to:
- Juggle narratives, break news, write trend and analysis pieces as well as assemble panels of industry experts and moderate monthly live events
- Keep a constant eye on Albany, along with key government oversight agencies in the cannabis space
- Become a respected and reliable source of information for New York's cannabis insiders
- Participate in NYCI conferences and events
- Maintain an "equity mindset" by holding government and businesses accountable to the social equity provisions in the state's cannabis law
Because the cannabis marketplace touches so many industries -- legal, real estate, small business, banking, distribution, agriculture, the environment, politics, etc. -- we're encouraging reporters with experience covering any of those areas to apply. We will prioritize those who have shown an ability to synthesize complicated information into digestible stories.
This position can be based anywhere within New York State, though our newsroom in Syracuse is a nice place to be.
