Social Media Producer
The Social Media Producer executes activities aimed at increasing audience of MLive.com content and increasing the MLive.com brand presence on existing and emerging social media platforms. Reporting to the Director of Audience Development, the Social Media Producer promotes content on our various branded channels, masters new platforms and tools, creates original content for social media and is able to track performance and analytics to optimize content for our audience. The Social Media Producer also appears on camera and records and produces video and audio for social and video team needs.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or related field required
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience
- Proven experience building, maintaining and engaging audiences on social media platforms
- Mastery of social media platforms and extensive knowledge of their application for news
- Deep interest in local and national news and knowledge of content trends
- Has experience on camera and is comfortable hosting live and pre-recorded videos
- Results-oriented with working knowledge of analytics reporting suites for websites and social media
- Ability to work independently, including remotely, and to prioritize tasks
- Demonstrated writing and organizational skills
- Tech-savvy at the content level; experience with animated gifs, manipulating photos, producing and editing video
- Mastery of Adobe applications Photoshop and Premiere Pro
- Audio editing capabilities a plus
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Learn and leverage social media best practices to grow audience and engagement on social media.
- Continuously monitor content from newsrooms and work with social team to promote it on relevant social channels, making tweaks to content where appropriate to maximize impact.
- Create content in collaboration with the social team to reach audiences on platforms that support alternative story formats and to engage users on established platforms with modified versions of local content
- Keeps current on content to quickly react and even anticipate what will best play on certain channels and user social media best practices to effectively pair content with the right audiences.
- Create content to suit platform needs and reach audiences.
- Leverages content and audience metrics to inform content-sharing strategies and communicates trends to relevant team members to facilitate effective, quick execution.
- Proactively monitor trends relative to social media optimization to inform tactics, adjusting course as needed to ensure
- Job requires some nights, weekends and schedule agility based on breaking news
