Marketing Associate, Events
Geography: Michigan and Ohio, Midwest
Description: This role will support event strategies that build brand momentum, audience engagement and provide unique event experiences. The ideal candidate must thrive in a challenging and fast-paced atmosphere; where prioritizing and multi-tasking are the norm. Exceptional attention to detail and first-class organizational skills are mandatory.
Branded Marketing Events
Our events are inspired by the communities we serve and the content news and information most compelling to our Midwest Region. We strive to exceed expectations by attracting appropriate audiences, creating content for our partners and connecting our readers with expert insights. The events and promotions that we build inspire pride in local communities and connect local and national businesses with highly engaged audiences. This role is critical to this effort, managing communication for each planned event, interacting with sales, creative, marketing, sponsors and attendees, and supporting planning and day-of execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the physical design, planning, and execution of events ranging from virtual panel discussions, in-person award shows, and virtual + in person or hybrid events.
- Provide logistical pre-event planning, on-site execution and post event wrap-up
- Oversee attendee experiences
- Provide outstanding customer service by establishing excellent working relationships with internal and external clients.
- Manage, event logistics for virtual and in-person events
- Source venues, vendors, technology for registration and/or virtual platforms.
- Coordinate across internal teams for marketing and promotional materials, speakers, other materials as needed.
- Liaise with the sales teams, internal stakeholders and external vendors to keep projects on track and meet deadlines with successful outcomes.
Qualifications/Experience Requirements:
- Ability to effectively manage many tasks and responsibilities at once, often with interruption
- An ability and desire to “see the full picture” of an event or responsibility, taking ownership and anticipating emergent needs
- A minimum entry-level understanding of digital marketing, social media, messaging and user experience
- Highly motivated self-starter with a can-do attitude who thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Calm in the face of stressful situations and competing priorities
- 2+ years of experience producing experiential in-person and virtual events.
- Proven success as an event/ conference planner.
- Experienced negotiator, sales experience a plus.
- Strong relationship skills with vendors and clients (internal and external).
- Exceptional customer service skills and enjoys working with the public.
- A team-oriented, positive and proactive attitude is essential. Experience working in a cross-functional team, a great team member, willing to roll up your sleeves and help colleagues when needed.
- Flexible with an ability to work to deadlines while handling multiple projects.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Skilled communicator.
