The Role

Oversees, analyzes and provides insight on brand inventory and its tracking on multiple fronts, including recent orders, incoming deliveries, support of air plans, shared use among other networks, asset lifespan and financial verifications. The ideal candidate will be based in Knoxville, TN.



Responsibilities:


1. Directs and controls a discrete program scheduling function typically for a network
2. Develops program schedules that result in the highest possible ratings
3. Establishes strong and informative relationships with production and development in the network that engenders trust and cooperation, particularly as priorities change
4. Directs subordinate directors who oversee assigned program scheduling activities
5. Translates corporate strategies into short- and mid-term objectives for the function Sets, approves and adjusts some policies and major operating procedures
6. Negotiates complex deals, often at top management level, that affect major aspects of functions performance
7. Adjusts anticipated premieres as needed due to changes in programming strategy
8. Provides Scheduling team with upcoming delivery dates, content info, or other inventory-related information as it relates to on-air plans
9. Makes recommendations regarding potential usage of assets on hiatus or those that need to be retired. Performs quarterly asset impairment review of branded programming still in amortization
10. Identifies programming that may need to be retired &/or written off in order for management to determine final action
11. Coordinates with sister networks on use of shared programming which may be nested, migrated or handed down, which may fall under different rules of use, including Alternate Distribution Means (ADM)
12. Consults with or assists Business Affairs and Legal as needed for restrictions, inquiries or issues with programming and adds such information to the e-search database to alert other potential users in multiple media platforms
13. Provides leadership and direction, typically through multiple levels of managers
14. Accountable for the performance and results of multiple teams focused on related, but different types of work
15. Executes functional or brand business plans and may contribute to the development of functional or brand strategies
16. Makes decisions guided by functional or brand strategies and priorities
17. Spends nearly all time focused on management responsibilities



Requirements:


* Typically requires BS/BA or MS/MA/MBA or other graduate degree in related discipline and at least 15-20 years of experience, including a management role
* Certification is required in some areas

* Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
* Knowledge of video/print/media production and/or processing
* Demonstrates proficiency in and working knowledge of several of the functions processes
* Analysis and troubleshooting skills as they relate to scheduling
* Knowledge of industry Scheduling Software

* Proficient working with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, MS Outlook
* Strong PC background, with demonstrated proficiency with Windows, Excel, Word, and MS Access

* Attention to detail, accuracy, and strong organizational skills
* Strong organizational skills with ability to act independently and responsibly
* Capacity to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Must be able to work collaboratively with team members
* Ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional groups
* Employees will also perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
