JFF seeks a national leader in workforce development and the future of work to serve as Program Vice President and join our Executive Team. Possessing a national network including government, employers, funders, workforce systems, and workforce education and training providers, the VP will lead strategy for JFFs workforce development and future of work initiatives, develop and execute fundraising and business development strategies, and oversee the implementation of impactful and successful programs. Providing executive-level direction and support to teams totaling approximately 30 people, the VP will be responsible for maintaining and advancing JFFs leadership and expertise in equitable workforce development.


  • Provide organizational and national leadership on issues related to the future of work and workforce development, including automation, changing nature of work, labor market economics, workforce system innovations, and demand-driven strategies for improving workforce outcomes
  • Successfully engage funders and strategic partners in the development and funding of new ideas and initiatives to drive JFFs work forward, and positioning JFFs point of view and theory of action within the broader ecosystem of players
  • Develop and lead impactful initiatives aimed at worker economic advancement, employer mobilization, inclusive partnerships, and innovative systems-building
  • Design and build programs, policies, and initiatives that elevate worker voice and drive equitable outcomes and address systemic barriers to equality and opportunity, including for historically marginalized peoples and communities
  • Utilize your deep knowledge of workforce development policy, systems, and leading public, private, and innovation-oriented actors in the field to influence national and state level strategies, policies, infrastructure, and funding mechanisms
  • Provide strategic mentorship and management to JFFs Work Unit and the Center for Apprenticeship and Work-Based Learning, including talent development, staff deployment, budget oversight, quality control, strategic direction, and execution
  • Seek ways to integrate workforce development and future of work initiatives across JFF and JFFLabs, leveraging the broad expertise of our staff to develop large-scale solutions that apply the power of innovation, technology, and big data to improve systems and services
  • Collaborate closely with other program vice presidents and the ED of JFFLabs to foster connections, synergies, and processes for collaboration across JFF and JFFLabs teams
  • Serve as a member of JFFs Executive Team, contributing to organizational decision-making and strategy setting
  • Serve as a national thought leader through presentations at high-profile events, op-eds, etc.


  • You are visionary, bold, provocative, strategic, and at the forefront of innovation in the field of workforce development, the future of work and innovative approaches to skills development and earn and learn models
  • You are knowledgeable about the workforce systems and public policies of today (such as WIOA, TANF, CTE and Apprenticeship), and have experience working with key actors in state and local workforce systems, such as community colleges, employers, CBOs or labor
  • You are eager to push the boundaries of what is possible to reimagine tomorrow including tech-enabled, demand-driven and potentially disruptive solutions that push past the status quo in favor of equitable economic advancement
  • You can turn bold new ideas into actionable strategies and impactful initiatives
  • You have extensive networks (including with funders across the workforce ecosystem), are highly relational, and are attuned to market realities and trends
  • You are an inclusive and collaborative leader, working effectively with diverse staff, and stewarding an organizational culture that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion, and an ability to apply JFFs core values to all areas of your work
  • You have 10-15 years of relevant leadership experience, including a track record of building and growing programs and raising funds from a variety of sources
  • You are a collaborative relationship builder, seeking to create connections across sectors and across teams in pursuit of innovative solutions
  • You are mission-driven and can thrive working in a growth oriented and entrepreneurial environment
  • You bring substantial experience managing direct reports and teams, providing mentorship, direct feedback, thought partnership, coaching and performance management to support their success, particularly during times of growth and change.
