Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Industrial Engineering position is a critical support role that is required to manage lean manufacturing improvements, efficiency efforts, and cost reduction. The position also supports production as a key member of the Material Review Board team, to assist and lead corrective actions and improvements. Industrial Engineering is also the owner of the creation and maintenance of multiple SAP transactions and data, creation and maintenance of procedures, and equipment and machine installation, moves, and decommissions. The Industrial Engineer constantly works to plan for future production capacities, analyzes production trends, and analyzes and works to improve Production Order Variances and production costing efforts.

Responsibilities: Essential Duties

  • Research, develop, and prepare specifications for improvements to existing and/or new products, processes, equipment, and technology.
  • Support projects by contributing to the development of project schedules, teams, tracking costs, preparing status reports, conducting team meetings, and communicating issues and progress to management.
  • Prepare Request Capital Investments including project description, schedule, and costs.
  • Supervise and direct contract personnel and outside vendors in the performance of contracted services.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to subordinates within the Engineering organization.
  • Provide direction and technical decision making for management involving capital asset purchases and expenses for projects and/or strategic initiatives involving up to $2MM (capital/expense/revenue potentials).
  • Prepare and present technical investigative reports to middle level management.
  • Moderate to high degree of both internal and external personnel interfaces.
  • Preparation of specifications and protocols for the development, testing, and qualification of equipment, processes, and products.
  • Communicate, both verbally and written, project activities to supervisor.

Expertise: Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S. Engineering) from four-year college or university and 6-7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of 14 years of education and experience.
