Job Description:

The Social Media and Communications Specialist manages and coordinates all aspects of social media and internal and external communications for one or more IIE Programs, including newsletters, blogs, email campaigns, multimedia, websites, branding, and relevant reporting. The Social Media and Communications Specialist serves as an IIE organizational professional and EducationUSA network resource, providing recommendations on processes and procedures on social media content strategy and effective communication channel management.

Essential Functions:
Envisions, develops, prioritizes, and curates social media content across platforms. Manages dynamic communities through social media presence and engagement. Gathers and reports information on alumnae activities to demonstrate program impact, and manages program web platforms. Creates and implements social media strategies and content calendar; monitors metrics and analytics, to include social listening.
Develops and implements communication strategy to engage present and past program participants and stakeholders, including newsletters and other campaigns, develops customized social media and media toolkits as needed.
Provides recommendations and guidance on individual postings, social media campaigns, and the strategic distribution of content for a variety of target audiences, as well as evolving communication opportunities to expand audience and reach.
Serves as an organizational professional resource for advisers in the EducationUSA network and higher education representatives. Develops template social media content for advisers to adapt and share.
Monitors and evaluates EducationUSA social media channels for unforeseen events that influence communication with advisers and HEI stakeholders.
Interacts with external stakeholders, including vendors, consultants and contractors, and various layers of the Higher Education Community, to professionally represent the program(s) and IIE. Drives earned media strategy for the Program.
Tracks, monitors and supports production and/or distribution of outreach materials and information. Ensures correct brand usage in creation of all materials.
Provides in-person and virtual site support for large events, capturing and reporting on event activities. Creates and develops marketing materials for virtual booths and events and develops and implements pre-event social media toolkits for representational events.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in order to apply a working knowledge of the theories and principles in a specialized field or work discipline.
Requires at least five years of related work experience.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Prior experience with successfully leading and managing social media and earned media campaigns and strategies is highly desired.
Experience editing and maintaining dynamic website content is highly desired.
Experience living, working or studying internationally and/or
experience with international travel and/or working with international communities is highly desired.
Ability to organize and handle a large volume of work under severe time constraints and pressures.
Excellent interpersonal, writing and editing skills, public speaking and presentation skills are highly preferred
Proficiency with MS Office applications, a newsletter publishing platform, a social media content management system is highly desired.
Proficiency with design applications, including Adobe InDesign, Canva, and a video editing tool.

Work Conditions & Physical Demands:

Essential functions are performed in a general office setting with low noise. Job demands may require long periods of sitting; telephone work and/or computer work, as well as interactions with other team members and external stakeholders.
