Leverages scientific and clinical expertise to build and drive commercial disease state and product specific strategies throughout commercial HCP education initiatives. Formulates the commercial KOL engagement strategy for our top KOL's. Contributes to the development of disease specific strategy across multiple commercial teams including NUPLAZID Marketing, the Commercial Strategy Team (life-cycle planning and commercial assessments), Market Access group, and Advocacy. This role spans multiple therapeutic areas including but not limited to Parkinson's, dementia, schizophrenia, depression, and Rhett. This role requires collaboration with R&D, Medical Affairs, Marketing, and other cross-functional departments.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Leads annual and multi-year HCP education plans linked to NUPLAZID and disease state initiatives that include project and performance objectives, incorporate market segment specific insights, competitive positioning, and brand objectives.
  • Contributes to the development of company business strategy, plans, annual budgets and business reviews.
  • Interprets and translates scientific clinical data into commercial implications, which may impact product positioning and advertising.
  • Partners with medical affairs and health outcomes to ensure strategic alignment on education messaging across both groups.
  • Interfaces with the Commercial Strategy Team to help develop commercial assessments on potential new products and acts as a technical advisor for specific therapeutic areas.
  • Drives commercial advisory board strategy across indications in partnership with the brand leaders, medical affairs, and clinical development.
  • Contributes to the commercial platform for products in early development and identifies therapeutic opportunity areas in partnership with the Commercial Strategy Team.
  • Contributes to the scientific accuracy of marketing team deliverables developed in partnership with KOLs such as white papers, consensus documents, and other commercial collaboration projects.
  • Contributes to the health outcomes and payer strategy for NUPLAZID by providing insights on market and therapeutic area specific needs that increase our ability to compete in the market.
  • Develops promotional education content, both branded and unbranded across indications.
  • Interfaces with medical affairs and the MDM team to ensure coordination and alignment with KOL, ad board and education activities.
  • Develops and delivers presentations as needed to commercial management and other internal groups.
  • Represents the company and acts as its liaison with industry associations and patient advocacy groups; attends trade and professional meetings important to the company's success.
  • Serves as a representative of the organization to both internal and external groups and ensures information communicated is accurate and up to date regarding organizational activities and industry trends.
  • Provides strategic input to tactics and execution of the MDM team as well as develops resources to support the efforts of this team with Centers of Excellence and institutional stakeholders.
  • Commercial oversight of marketing projects as an individual contributor to ensure all Medical Legal Review (MLR) processes are followed and all programs are compliant with legal guidance and corporate policies.
  • Working closely with Marketing Leadership, and Finance to ensure appropriate resources and organizational alignment are available to capitalize on short-term and long-term business opportunities.
  • Assists in strategic development for new indication launch and execution of pimavanserin.
  • Partners with sales training to optimize the development of new therapeutic area content.
  • Contributes to and utilizes market research to properly inform strategy for product commercialization.
  • Represents the marketing function and contributes to publications planning in partnership with medical affairs
  • Drives cross-functional commercial initiatives linked to identification, diagnosis, and documentation of diagnosis strategies where scientific information and KOL involvement are critical
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skills:

MD, DO required or equivalent degree with work in neurology or psychiatry required. A combination of relevant education and applicable job experience may be considered. A minimum of 12 years of progressively responsible pharmaceutical, clinical, or related experience developing and leading projects with commercial value. Reputation as a strong cross-functional collaborator and experience managing complex commercialization projects including early product planning, product launches, and overall portfolio strategy within a single therapeutic area.

Must possess:
  • Experience with positioning and early strategy development.
  • Proven success in developing and executing strategy.
  • Proven skill at negotiating with business partners or management, and influencing senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.
  • Ability to create and communicate a clear vision among team members, and effectively aligning resources and activities to achieve functional area and/or organizational goals.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed organizational environment.
  • Recent blockbuster brand experience, launch experience or major new indication launch experience.
  • Experience successfully launching new products
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities and proficient planning and negotiation skills.
  • Effectively and excellent communication including verbal, written, and presentation form.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of time.
