About us...

The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation was created in 1944 by international business pioneer Conrad N. Hilton, who founded Hilton Hotels and left his fortune to help individuals throughout the world living in poverty and experiencing disadvantage. About the role...

The Communications, Partnerships and Advocacy team has three distinct functions. The team oversees corporate communications; develops and manages state, national and global partnerships focused on the role of philanthropy in the Sustainable Development Goals and increasing civil discourse through religious pluralism; and works in partnership with program teams to achieve issue-specific policy and financing goals that advance the foundations programmatic strategies.

The Senior Advocacy Officer will report to the Director of Advocacy and work in direct partnership with Senior Program Officers focused on supporting the Catholic Sisters and global Refugee initiatives. This role will help to develop and execute clear and measurable advocacy strategies that support the foundations programmatic goals and by creating enabling environments, advancing policy and funding goals for greater impact.

What you'll do...
  • Co-create, manage and implement advocacy and communications plans to support the foundations programmatic goals for the teams they support
  • Act as a thought partner to the program team and examine, execute, and manage complex portfolio of advocacy and communication grants
  • Provide clear, concise and insightful analysis and recommendations for funding to leadership
  • Oversee outside firm(s) to monitor public discourse and public reports regarding the Foundation
  • Manage consultant contracts and grants related to advocacy and communications
  • Work cross-functionally to create success metrics regarding efforts and methods to capture relevant data with grantees and contracted partners
  • Represent the foundation to key external constituencies, as appropriate, on committees related to area of expertise and responsibilities of the position
What you need...
  • A bachelor's degree in public health, public policy, social sciences, social welfare or a related field, with a minimum of 7 years of experience
  • Graduate degree in public policy, social welfare, or a related field preferred
    Experience at a foundation, nonprofit, advocacy organization, in government or at a public affairs firm preferred
  • Experience as a relationship lead or manager with funders, donors and governments
  • Recognition internally and externally by the professional community as an expert within a particular specialized field
  • Demonstrable experience producing results in US domestic and/or international public policy that lead to real and measurable change
  • A strong understanding of the Catholic Sisters' global mission and work
  • A proven ability to lead and influence others in a constructive manner, and build and foster collaborative relationships
  • Experience as a technical resource for teams and leadership regarding advocacy, communications and influence
  • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills, and ability to synthesize information for diverse audiences and build consensus
  • Strong quantitative analytic skills
