POSITION SUMMARY

The Supervisor is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Medical Director and Practice Manager. The Supervisor directly manages the staff of the Nursing Practice Officer. The Supervisor coordinates recruitment of Nurses and Medical Assistants, evaluates the staff and is responsible for any necessary disciplinary actions including the proper supporting documentation. The Supervisor assists the department staff with issues, problems and projects as directed and responds to operational inquiries. The Supervisor develops and implements office procedures and processes that support operations.



The Supervisor utilizes the care process consistent with Nurse& MA license and/or certification including initiation of interventions within individual scope of practice.



The Supervisor actively supports performance improvement initiatives and provides leadership to other members of the patient care team.Assists with staff scheduling and ensuring staff competency levels. Provides for adequate, competent staffing levels on each shift that supports an environment that encourages professional growth and development. Responds to staff questions and customer service issues; assists staff with problems and refers to manager as appropriate. Assesses staff educational needs and collaborates with the manager to plan, develop and implement continuing education programs. Assesses the needs of patients and other customers and initiates changes to strengthen nursing practice, provide quality care and to enhance service in a fiscally responsible manner. Assists manager with the interviewing, hiring, orientation and evaluation process of staff members. Seeks out opportunities, makes recommendations and coordinates changes to integrate and enhance services with other functions/business units. Develops, implements and evaluates policies, procedures, and business plans that support the provision of service. Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and ensures departmental functions are in compliance with established standards. By participating in educational activities, the Nursing Team Lead Supervisor assumes responsibility for continued professional and personal growth and operates within the organizations policies and procedures.









QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. BSN preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current license as an Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey and current BLSHCP and ACLS required.

EXPERIENCE: 2-4 years previous specialty experience and/or demonstrated competency within specialty required.Leadership experience preferred. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
