General Purpose of Position: Responsible for activities involving quality assurance at Ogden AMT & Ogden Human Central Warehouse. Active member of the FSMA Food Safety Team, and support role for SQF elements and guidelines.

Essential responsibilities and authority include but are not limited to the following:

  • Direct the inspection and testing of products to ensure adherence to established standards of quality
  • Prepare, review and organize quality assurance data and documentation
  • Write, revise and review standard operating procedures
  • Write, revise and approve facility work instructions
  • Inspect and audit facility daily
  • Oversee and improve the facility's current quality manufacturing functions
  • Determine the disposition of returned materials
  • Write, revise and review manufacturing records and all quality control documents
  • Helps maintain facility FSMA Food Safety plan
  • Design and implement SQF plans for the manufacturing operations at the facility
  • Direct QA involvement with production teams to improve manufacturing systems
  • Provide Quality Assurance services at other facilities as needed.
  • Responsible for self involvement, team involvement and execution of tasks relative to achieving annual departmental goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:


  • Associates Degree in related field preferred but not required and 2 years relevant manufacturing experience in the food, dietary supplement, or pharmaceutical industry. Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control experience a plus.
  • Understanding of and experience with cGMP and SQF requirements preferred.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to interface with all levels.
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Microsoft Office applications; ASQ Quality Technician certification, preferred but not necessary.

Working Conditions: Position may require walking/standing for long periods; reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting. Occasional lifting of 55 lb. bags required. Exposure to powder and heavy equipment in a loud manufacturing atmosphere with PPE. Manufacturing environment with exposure to powder mineral products, cleaning chemicals, restricted movement, dirty environment, hazardous materials, lifting and carrying heavy objects.

In accordance with the OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard (29CFR 1910.134) Balchem/Albion employees (Production, Quality, R&D, and Maintenance) are required to successfully complete annual fit testing (clean shaven req.) and medical clearance (respirator medical certification). In addition, when required to wear a respirator, wearers must wear it as they fit tested (clean shaven).
