Position Summary:

The Manager, Set World, is responsible for managing daily operations of Aesculaps National Loaner Pool (Set World). Duties include controlling inbound/outbound assemble of sets; inventory management, establishing par levels of sets/products, ensure the accurate, timely delivery of requested sets/products and traceability for implants. Continuous process improvement with an emphasis on documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Lean principles are key success factors. Management of the Team Supervisors/Leads; and provide monthly key performance indicators (KPI) tracking. Responsibilities involve driving process improvements throughout the St Louis Operations Center, along with maintaining proper inventory levels to support business requirements. The primary success factor is to assure continuous improvement in set turns with a quality focus.

Responsibilities: Essential Duties

  • Identifies, implements and continuously improves processes as needed for check in, assembly, shipping, tracking, returns and decontamination.
  • Leads Set World Operations team in the coordination of daily workload activities and ensuring set and restock orders ship to meet the customers request date.
  • Establishes KPIs to provide insight and viability to SetWorld volumes and performance against targets.
  • Gains alignment from managers and stakeholders regarding process change activities.
  • Establish processes and procedures to handle each departments area of focus to ensure consistency with FDA requirements, ISO 13485 certification and other quality protocols in support of our Aesculap Quality System.
  • Accomplishes monthly productivity/quality goals through effective and efficient use of resources.
  • Ensures all protocols are followed and personnel policies are administered accurately and consistently.
  • Leads Set World in implementing Lean principles for continuous process improvement.
  • Provides timely and effective feedback to all team members including performance reviews, developmental plans, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Must comply with applicable ISO and FDA regulations as stated in Quality Manual
  • Must embody the Companys Vision, Mission and Values
  • Other duties may be assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Applies fundamental management knowledge coupled with effective training techniques and supervision for compliance to Aesculap Policies and Procedures to complete a variety of tasks and provide training. Implements, trains and documents solutions for improved effective and efficient operation support.

Language and mathematical skills; reasoning ability:

  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


Expertise: Qualifications-Experience/Training/Education/Etc


  • Requires a BA/BS or work experience equivalent.
  • Experience and/or working knowledge of the quality and throughput requirements of a National Loaner program for patient implant surgeries.
  • 5 years supervising/managing a service, distribution, quality or central supply function in a hospital environment.
  • Working experience in kitting operations inventory tracking system
  • Strong people management and development skill set.
  • Excellent organizational, problem solving, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen with emphasis in Supply Chain.
  • Experience with SAP, a plus.
  • Experience with Lean/Six Sigma (highly preferred)
  • 3 Years Supply Chain and/or logistics experience.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
