Summary

The EChannel Mortgage Team Lead (Team Lead) produces individually and leads assigned designated team of Mortgage Loan Officers (MLOs). The Team Lead will be responsible for achieving individual production goals; and will coach, educate, develop, and assist MLOs in generating their own mortgage business, and in pipeline management, through referral relationships with community real estate agents, members, and other partners. Drive MLOs to achieve sales goals and deliver a quality, member-centric mortgage experience while identifying internal partner business referral opportunities.

The Team Lead leads by example on being an ambassador within the Credit Union and to the communities it serves. The Team Lead is responsible for assisting the EChannel Mortgage Manager in assisting in the team success, including collaborating with branch teams, partnering with key stakeholders, and assisting in determining solutions for mortgage loans in the pipeline. Fulfills members mortgage needs and objectives through proactive conversations that expand and strengthen relationships. Drives themselves and designated MLOs to achieve sales goals and deliver a quality, member-centric mortgage experience while identifying referral opportunities.

A typical day might include the following:

  • Convert incoming phone and web leads into mortgage applications
  • Leads and develops the MLOs by measuring progress and by providing coaching, counseling, and training
  • Oversees follow-up activities
  • Tracks conversion of leads and funding pull-through
  • Generates and leads changes that improve sales production and enhance the work environment
  • Recommends new products and/or services that would complement current product offerings. Promotes team to cross-sell products and services to members best interests
  • Develops mortgage loan business through managing inbound phone/web queues and other mortgage lead opportunities
  • Identifies and analyzes potential loan markets to develop prospects for residential real estate loans
  • Interviews loan applicants and requests specified information for loan applications, including mortgage loans of the highest complexity, value, or risk
  • Corresponds with loan applicants or creditors to resolve questions regarding application information
  • Requests property appraisals, applicant credit reports, background checks, reference checks, and other information pertinent to a loan applicant's evaluation
  • Analyzes applicant financial status, credit, and property evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loan, and/or submits application to credit analyst for verification and recommendation
  • Compiles loan package and facilitates negotiation with applicant according to establishment standards, such as fees, loan repayment options, and other credit terms
  • Effectively uses software programs, such as Mortgage Cadence, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) Reporting, and other computer programs as required
  • Ensures mortgage applications are consistent with Credit Union policies and applicable real estate-specific laws, rules, and regulations, including those pertaining to the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), and to federal, wholesale, and secondary markets
  • Provides loan data to support marketing and sales promotion programs
  • Manages scheduled call nights, call blocks, and outbound call activities to current and potential members
  • Assists in resolving escalated member concerns
  • Actively participates in scheduled outside business activities to develop relationships with external partners to acquire referrals. Stays current on internal and industry developments
  • Completes educational and compliance courses
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum four years residential lending experience
  • Thorough knowledge of loan origination and closing requirements for conventional, construction, government, and non-conforming portfolio loan programs

Candidates for this position will be required to sign an authorization for OneAZ to conduct a credit and criminal background check, pursuant to procedures in the Fair Credit Reporting Act and any other applicable laws.
