Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, this position will provide parental leave coverage for two positions, the Director of Marketing & Communications and the Director of Sponsorship. The temporary role will manage projects and priorities in accordance with existing organizational goals and objectives, track deliverables, coordinate among team members, and enable success by solving and resolving challenges as they arise.

Temporary role from April 26-August 31, 2021

Pay rate: $65-$70/hour


I. Marketing & Communications (Leave coverage April 26 August 31)

  1. Project manages workflow of Marketing & Communications team, mapping to operational team priorities and providing updates to the COO
  2. Facilitates communication among marketing team leaders - Digital marketing, Design, Creative Services and Marcom Managing Editor
  3. Leads Marcom team meetings
  4. Liaises with outside agency for strategic PR coverage, as needed
  5. Serves as primary point of contact for marketing department requests and works collaboratively with stakeholders across the organization
  6. Takes responsibility for marketing team administration including managing departmental budgets, ensuring monthly reporting is completed, signing off on time cards and vacation/sick requests, etc.
  7. Troubleshoots roadblocks and as they arise

II. Sales (Leave coverage May 10-June 21)

  1. Manages daily operations of the sales team
  2. Plans, schedules and sets agendas for sales team and individual meetings
  3. Checks in frequently with the COO for authorization of salesperson requests such as pricing or package alterations
  4. Drafts new or updated sales packages based on existing design and pricing guidelines; seeks approval before sharing
  5. Aligns salesperson or client requests with organizational resources and requirements
  6. Serves as point of contact for sponsorship interest and distribute general leads to Account Managers
  7. Provides weekly revenue reporting
  8. Provides monthly commission reporting and reconciliation with Accounting Department

III. Operations

  1. Attends twice weekly operational team check-ins; cascades pertinent information to Marcom and/or Sponsorship teams
  2. Develops and maintains effective relationships with senior management
  3. Other duties as assigned by the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer


  1. Bachelor's Degree (preferably in Business, Communications, Project Management or similar) or equivalent experience required., MBA Preferred
  2. Demonstrated experience and understanding of sales, marketing, and business operations
  3. Five years management and supervisory experience required
  4. Previous experience working for a media organization preferred
  5. Ability to track and report on complex deliverables
  6. Ability to make decisions mapping to strategic priorities
  7. Ability to find and manage solutions to cross-departmental roadblocks as they arise
  8. Working knowledge of creative processes and production timelines
  9. Experience with Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Google Analytics, Trello, Slack
  10. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills


  1. Ability to view data on a computer screen for long periods of time
  2. Ability to type on a keyboard for long periods of time
  3. For remote and/or hybrid work - Ability to access stable internet connection and dedicated work space during business hours
