Our Cloud Architect is responsible for integrating new cloud services (applications and infrastructure) into the organization's portfolio of internal systems and existing cloud services. The role collaborates with technology brokers and external providers to understand new cloud services and integration technologies and their implications for the organization. The role also collaborates with enterprise architects and solution architects to ensure new cloud services align to roadmaps and to understand the effect on the organization's information architecture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and coordinate a cloud architecture and build a cloud strategy around that architecture
• Manages the integration of cloud application and infrastructure services into existing IT systems
• Coordinates with technology brokers to evaluate new cloud technologies and service offerings
• Coordinates with enterprise architects and information architects to ensure new cloud services align to roadmaps and to understand the impact on the organization's information architecture
• Understands business requirements and works with process analysts to ensure that integration activities enhance business processes or to minimize any negative impact
• Liaises with external providers to resolve any issues in the functionality and interoperability of new cloud, applications, cloud-based infrastructure, and other cloud services with existing IT systems
• Maintains operational, architectural and design documentation including procedures, task lists, and architecture blue prints
• Facilitates project handoffs including preparing documentation, educating and supporting to ensure smooth transitions
• Drive continuous improvement in availability, serviceability and efficiency
• Continually works to enhance breadth and depth of knowledge and experience
• Identifies infrastructure requirements by interviewing customers; analyzing department applications, programming, and operations; evaluating existing systems and designing proposed systems
• Recommends solutions by defining infrastructure physical structure and functional capabilities, security, data back-up, and recovery specifications
• Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
• Manage and prioritize infrastructure deployment activities

Preferred Skills:

• Expert in application design/architecture, integration architecture development, and enterprise application integration
• Experience and Knowledge with security policies, firewalls, encryption, and security information and event management systems
• Architect, deploy and scale AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience working on Kubernetes and containers
• Experience with CI/CD tools and deployment strategies
• Working knowledge of load balancers, network protocols.
• Experience with Cloud Orchestration tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, and configuration tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef etc is a plus.
• Deep understanding of AWS Regions, Availability Zones, End Points, Local Zones, Outpost etc.
• Experience architecting solutions on AWS that are utilized cross regions
• Strong awareness of networking concepts and how to implement those concepts within AWS. Experience with Transit Gateway and VPC peering preferable.
• Experience in debugging and troubleshooting network and infrastructure issues
• Proficient in designing and implementing core AWS services like VPC, S3, EC2, RDS, IAM, Route 53, Autoscaling, CloudWatch, AWS Config, AWS Backup, CloudTrail, ELB, AWS Migration, ELB, VPN/Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, Single Sign-On and Service Catalog.
• Professional-level certification as an AWS Solutions Architect.
• Comfortable working in both a Windows and Linux server environment.
• Experience with Active Directory and/or AWS Directory Services would be a plus.
• Able to create cost estimates to accompany designs to support budget planning and can identify potential cost-savings options for existing solutions.
• Experience using Git/GitHub, Jira (or similar), and working in a scrum environment.
