Job Description

Progeny Systems Corporation is seeking a Information Systems administrator for our Groton, CT location. The ideal candidate must possess a deep and broad knowledge of computer software, hardware, and networks. They will be responsible for designing, organizing, modifying, and supporting multiple computer systems. The System Administrator will design and oversee local area networks, wide area networks, and network segments. System Administrator is responsible for installing, upgrading and monitoring software and hardware. The System Administrator will maintain operating systems, business applications, security tools, web-servers, email, workstations and servers.

Duties and Responsibilities

Manage and maintain various operating systems such as WIN10, and Linux CentOS to meet National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), DAAPM, and DISA STIG Guidelines as well as National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards.

Strong troubleshooting skills with resourcefulness and a problem-solving aptitude

Skilled in Linux administration and scripting

Ensuring security and efficiency of the IT infrastructure with experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management

Understanding of Information Security Systems and their implementation in small to mid-size business environments with familiarity of system security (IDS) and data backup/recovery

Configure information systems, ensuring compliance with DSCA and DISA configuration guidelines for specific technologies (Windows, Linux, Active Directory, DNS, Network Router, Network Firewall, etc.).

Conduct routine audits and backups of approved systems in accordance with facility guidelines.

Provide system test and evaluation support, including test writing, execution, and reporting.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must have a Secret clearance with upgrade eligibility

DOD 8570 compliance Security+ and Windows 10 certifications

Understanding of Microsoft Windows 10 and Server 2016(and later), including Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy Management., and PKI Implementation.

Skilled in Linux administration and scripting.

Thorough understanding of Information Security Systems and their implementation in small to mid-size business environments.

Works well under pressure and is able to manage multiple projects and issues simultaneously.

Thorough understanding of the TCP/IP network protocols and network design.

Excellent communication skills

  • 2-5 years Experience in Network Administration preferred
  • VMware, Maintaining Microsoft Office 2013 and later, Windows 10 and Server 2016 and later; server hardware setup, including RAID and tape systems; Microsoft IIS and Apache web servers.

This position requires the applicant to hold an ACTIVE DoD Clearance.

Physical and Mental Requirements for all positions:
Prolonged stationary periods at a desk
General ability to operate computer and other productivity machinery such as calculator, copy machine, printer, etc.
Ability to lift and transport up to 15 pounds at times
Effectively communicate with others
Ability to stay focused and provide attention to detail.
Ability to think analytically and apply problem solving skills to scenarios throughout the course of the workday
