The Human Resources Manager will work alongside supervisors and support staff to facilitate the routine functions of the HR Team, including recruitment and hiring; employee onboarding and separation; administering pay, benefits, and leave; enforcing company policies and practices and ensuring employer compliance with local, state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about effective hiring and recruiting strategies, experienced in navigating employee relations situations, and have previous experience with the ADP Human Resource Information System.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are normal for this position. These duties are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.

• Implement the organizations human resource and talent strategy under the direction of senior leadership. Priorities include current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention and employee engagement.
• Provide support to supervisors and staff when sensitive questions and issues arise; including facilitating the process to provide reasonable accommodations, investigate allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
• Facilitate the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
• Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; research and propose competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
• Work with senior leadership to implement learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
• Facilitate employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations in collaboration with supervisors.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
• Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
• Three years of human resource management experience.
• Knowledge of employment law and compliance requirements
• Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Ability to multitask and adjust to shifting priorities, maintaining a positive attitude
• Proficient with Microsoft 365 platform and applications, internet, electronic timecard system, and computer network (files, drives, and folders).
• Must have and maintain a valid Minnesota Drivers License, maintain automobile coverage and have access to an automobile.
• Must be willing and able to perform essential job functions through in-person, face to face contact as required, in accordance with health and safety guidelines.

Highly Desired Skills:

• Hands-on knowledge and administrator-level experience using ADP Workforce Now HRIS.
• Current SHRM or equivalent HR professional certification.
• Advanced working knowledge and comfort with technology, specifically Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and related Microsoft 365 applications.

Work Environment: Keeping us Safe

In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Vail Place has worked diligently to establish strong health and safety protocols for our community. This position is typically a face-to-face, in-person role, requiring regular onsite attendance two or more days per week. Currently much of the work can be done through telecommuting, but there is an expectation of in-office attendance at least two days per week. Any interactions that require in-person contact will involve the use of social distancing and personal protective measures. Vail Place grounds are also tobacco free to promote health and wellness for the individuals we serve and for our employees.

Salary and Benefits

$65,000 to $75,000 Depending on Qualifications. Full Benefits Package including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, long term disability, matched 401K. Paid time off in Year 1 includes generous vacation & sick/safe time, plus 2 personal days and 12 paid holidays.
