In this role, you provide great attention to detail and subject matter expertise in the areas of compensation, benefits, payroll. WIth your strong client focus, you address the needs and questions of Mills' team members.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including, but not limited to, group health, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, accident and disability, life insurance, 401(k), worker's compensation, COBRA, and leave of absence, and wellness programs
  • Reconcile all benefit statements and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims and costs
  • Serve as a liaison to all benefit providers and vendors
  • Guides employees on benefit matters regarding eligibility, coverage, and provisions
  • Coordinate workers' compensation claims with third-party administrator


  • Manage the payroll function including, but not limited to, the processing of bi-weekly payroll, the timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations garnishments, withholding orders, W2s, and earnings verification
  • Collect and audit timesheet data and payroll information at end of each pay period to ensure hours reported are complete and accountable including regular hours worked, overtime worked, and all time off
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices

HR Administration

  • Serve as superuser for Mills Human Resource Capital Management (HCM) system including troubleshooting any issues with the vendor and reconciling/validating all data entry to ensure data integrity
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of all HR records, files, and documentation including benefits, payroll, and employee files; Ensure all records are accurate, up-to-date and in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws
  • Participate in audits as needed
  • Review and respond to employment verifications and unemployment claims providing appropriate documentation
  • Handle HR-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and vendors in a courteous manner.
  • Partner with Training and Development Manager to provide SME training to all employees
  • Embrace Mills values and contribute to molding Mills' culture into a best place to work and present the company's value proposition to candidates in a compelling manner
  • Monitor and report on Mills employer brand reputation
  • Assist team with additional HR duties as needed
  • Contribute to ongoing improvement of internal processes providing best practice recommendations
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in all areas of human resources
  • Abide by Mills policies and procedures and laws pertaining to Fair Housing, ADA, etc.

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field
  • Minimum of two years' experience in human resources
  • Proficiency with HCM and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proven ability to maintain composure against obstacles, solving problems with keen insight
  • Compelling communicator at all levels with the ability to convey ideas and concepts concisely through interpersonal, written, and verbal communication
  • Adept at building relationships and working in a team environment with proven track record of sharing ideas, providing encouragement, building on other's ideas, giving due appreciation, and bringing out the best in others
