The San Francisco Conservatory of Music is looking for a Human Resources and Finance Coordinator who will provide general administrative support to Human Resources and the Finance. In addition to performing general support services for Finance, the incumbent will serve as a conduit for communication between Faculty, Students, and Payroll, with regard to onboarding, HR compliance, and other administrative duties.

General HR Support

  • Collaborates with the Associate Vice President of Human Resources and Administration and Payroll to ensure timely onboarding of student and adjunct faculty hires and enrollment of new full-time eligible employees in SFCM benefit plans
  • Conducts monthly reconciliation of employee benefit contributions to insurance bills for medical, dental, vision, voluntary life, AD&D and other insurance products
  • Submits quarterly census data to Healthy San Francisco in compliance with the SFHCSO and ensures timely payments to the city and that eligible employees receive required notices for accessing HCSO benefits
  • Tracks employee ACA benefit hours to determine the eligibility of part-time employees for health insurance benefits and maintains and improves the system for ACA compliance
  • Works with Payroll to ensure updated 403b elections are entered into the system in a timely manner
  • Ensures formal tracking of any leaves of absence mandated by state and federal law
  • Assists employees with accessing any benefits related to leaves, such as PFL and SDI and coordinates such benefits with payroll.
  • As needed, assists the AVP of HR & Administration with screening applicants, ensures all applicants receive a response from SFCM, and provides additional administrative support for Faculty searches as needed.
  • Collaborates with AVP of HR & Administration and/or other Managers to develop internal employee training and orientation and onboarding programs
  • Ensures that Employee records and files are current and up to date
  • Monitors mandatory the assignment and completion of mandatory training programs and improves the system for documentation of such training; helps to oversee the timely delivery of mandatory notices to new hires, current and former employees as mandated by federal and local laws

Finance Office Support

  • Enters all miscellaneous cash receipts into the accounting system and deposits checks; collaborates with Advancement to ensure correct coding of donations
  • Manages off-site file storage
  • Oversees the Faculty/Staff workroom functions, including maintenance of copy and mailing machines and office supplies
  • Serves as a backup in the distribution of mail and office supply management
  • Performs other duties as needed

As with all positions, the incumbent will perform other duties as required.



  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is desirable
  • Two years of experience working serving in an administrative support capacity, some HR experience
  • Intermediate skills pulling information from HRIS databases and putting together reports in Excel
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain complex records with attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Exercises discretion and good judgment and knows when to escalate concerns to the AVP of HR & Administration
  • Commitment to working as a team and maintaining regular communication with AVP of HR & Administration, Business Office, Office of the Dean, Office of the President, and Academic Affairs, and other departments and divisions
  • Demonstrates initiative and ability to work independently
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word and familiarity with Google Drive
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
