Who We Are Looking for: Our Tacoma, WA team is looking for a HR Generalist well versed in leave policy and employee relations issues. This is a unique opportunity to support our non-profit and our mission by serving those who serve our community and work in our retail stores. We serve a diverse group of hiring managers and employees, therefore the ideal candidate has a keen understanding of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. You know how to meet someone where they are in their professional development, and even in the most difficult conversations, you ooze professionalism and tact. This role would best fit someone used to working with multiple locations, and a fair amount of in-store visits are involved. Bonus points if you are an ADP expert with experience in integrations and onboarding.

Job Summary:

The Human Resource Generalist works collaboratively with the Human Resource team and partners with Goodwills business leaders to meet the strategic business outcomes. The Generalist will engage with others to provide leadership, and support in a variety of Human Resource specialties including recruiting, employee relations, training, benefits administration, performance management and unemployment hearings. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. The generalist must be sensitive to employee concerns, organizational goals, and mission attainment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works as the primary liaison between assigned employee groups and human resources for all human resource matters, supporting the assigned employee groups with every aspect of the employee experience from recruitment to retirement.
  • Works in partnership with managers on employee relations matters, including coaching leadership toward solutions aligned with organizational policies.
  • Proactively diagnoses issues and opportunities and takes necessary action to bring timely resolution.
  • Takes the lead in addressing all unemployment matters and attends unemployment hearings.
  • Collaborates with managers to fill positions with the best qualified candidates.
  • Works in partnership with human resource leadership to develop and deliver human resources training, including a focus on leadership development.
  • Interacts with employees and managers to assist with questions and policy clarification; makes on-site visits to program sites to provide face-to-face HR support.
  • Coaches supervisors to self-sufficiency in managing all elements of employee performance.
  • Provides day to day benefit administration services, including increasing employee understanding of and participation in organizational benefits.
  • Understands and applies all leave laws such as the FMLA and ADA.
  • Creates standard and custom reports as assigned/requested.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education:Bachelor's degree preferred,plus minimum 2 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:Must be able to speak with and understand effectively, a variety of individuals including co-workers, employees and leaders. Ability to create, review and interpret intermediate/advanced information. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers/ regulatory agencies/employees. Ability to effectively present information to management, and/or directors.

Computer Skills: Knowledge of HRIS software along with Intermediate/Advanced PC skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (email and calendar).

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:Valid Drivers License, HR Certification preferred.
