About ANDE

The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) is a program within the Aspen Institute. ANDE is a global network of organizations that propel entrepreneurship in emerging markets. ANDE members provide critical financial, educational, and business support services to?small and growing businesses (SGBs) based on the conviction that SGBs will create jobs, stimulate long-term economic growth, and produce environmental and social benefits. Ultimately, we believe that SGBs can help lift countries out of poverty.

Launched with 34 members in 2009, ANDE now comprises?over 290 members?who collectively operate?in more than 150 countries. Members of ANDE include both for and nonprofit investment funds, capacity development providers, research and academic institutions, development finance institutions, foundations and corporations from around the world. Based in Washington, D.C. with eight offices operating across African, Latin American and Asian emerging markets, the ANDE team works hard to support members globally, and locally, while building strong ecosystems for entrepreneurial growth. ANDE develops unique initiatives to address systemic challenges and seize opportunities that can only be approached through collective action.

Job Responsibilities

Day to day work involves a wide variety of tasks from drafting correspondences to managing office logistics and overseeing expense and reimbursement requests. Each day will be different, but this role will provide exposure to a wide variety of organizational and administrative skills and experience required to support the small and growing business sector in developing countries. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining calendar, event schedules and providing administrative support for senior leadership team, including (but not limited to):

  • Making travel arrangements, scheduling and planning meetings;

  • Preparing and coordinating agendas, information, and other pertinent items for daily meetings and events;

  • Oversight of expense and reimbursement requests.

  • Leading multiple team administrative processes such as filing invoice payment requests, time sheet reminders and tracking, maintaining supply inventory, reviewing mail and overseeing records; responding to requests for information, directing requests to the appropriate party.

  • Acting as note taker for various meetings and conference calls.?Drafting memoranda on meeting content and decisions taken

  • Correspondence including drafting and circulating letters, meeting notes, tracking the status of external requests

  • Acting as the administrative liaison for weekly staff meetings, informing the staff of scheduled meetings and ensuring the distribution of material in advance of the meeting.

  • Serving as liaison to the Executive Committee members, coordinating meetings and preparing material in advance of the meetings

  • Conducting relevant research about the SGB sector as needed for executive leadership team to ensure that they are properly briefed for events, meetings, media appearances and presentations

  • Providing logistical support for meetings and conferences as needed

  • Maintaining and updating contacts and lists

  • Supporting with the upkeep of Constituent Management Systems and database management

  • Review and process expenses

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Position is based in Washington, DC headquarters, with remote work from home during COVID.

  • Flexible hours and remote work to enable communications with our international staff and members in other time zones is often needed

Target Profile

The ideal candidate will thrive in a busy setting, expertly handling multiple competing priorities, maintaining a positive, can-do attitude, and working collaboratively with team members, internal and external stakeholders, and partners and a prestigious Executive Committee.

Candidates must have exemplary organizational and problem-solving skills and attention to detail with the ability to respond to rapidly changing priorities and have superior interpersonal skills, high self-awareness, and sound judgment. The position also requires strong communications skills.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, a true team player and someone excited about engaging with many cultures in a global setting with a highly entrepreneurial organization.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this role:

  • 2 3 years of experience in a similar position

  • Excels at organization, time management and attention to detail

  • Has excellent professional written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team;

  • Experience working with other cultures;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, energy, and initiative;

  • Has a strong ability to help others be organized and efficient;

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office;

  • Experience in Salesforce a plus;

  • Second language skills, especially Spanish or French, a plus.

  • Interested in international development and small business entrepreneurship
